Salmon Fishing Tip - Dipsy Diver Mod - S Spring Clip Dipsy - NFN's SW Dipsy

  • This is an alternative method to running a Dipsy Diver. It allows you to use longer leads for catching boat shy fish. I call it a Secret Weapon Dipsy (SW Dipsy). The hollow Dacron from the leadcore is more for going over braid line. It will help open the loop for you.

    Neat trick. I've also seen guys use Offshore clips to attach the dipsey to the main line. I run slide divers, so I can change lead length and I don't have to monkey with removing anything from the line and risk losing the fish that way.

    Great idea. I took some tubing from some trailer hooks I had around. Cut a 1/4” piece and slid it on to the curves put the s spring on the dipsy and pushed the tubing over the spring on both ends to there is no chance of the dipsy coming off or the s spring coming off the loop on the main line.

    Nice vid NFN and thanks for sharing this technique. Do you find that the diver still dives to the same depths according to the chart, without any pull or resistance attached to the back (terminal end) of the diver?

    • @NoFishNicksAdventures
      @NoFishNicksAdventures  Před 4 lety

      I believe it to be slightly less just because of the added resistance from the clip and extra knots going through the water.

    • @NoFishNicksAdventures
      @NoFishNicksAdventures  Před 4 měsíci +1

      It would work with a heavy braid but not thin stuff. Especially not power pro because the loop doesn't open up and it's a real pain to hook the clip. NFN

    Will the Dipsy pull to the side on different settings? And will it still dive as deep. Also, why not use this all the time with flasher/fly, meat rig and spoons instead of having the Dipsy always attached. Can’t wait to try.

    • @NoFishNicksAdventures
      @NoFishNicksAdventures  Před 5 lety

      Joe, the dipsy is still going to pull down and to the side the same as it normally would except that it will have more drag on it due to the long lead (extra line drag). At times the dipsy is part of the attractor so I still use it like normal on my wire diver. If the wire is not getting hits then drop another SW dipsey. Good luck on your next adventure.

    • @NoFishNicksAdventures
      @NoFishNicksAdventures  Před 5 lety +1

      It trips when the fish makes a run. It does not trip every time but I would say 80% of the time it does and it you watch my videos you will see it takes a lot of hits. I've been using it for two years now. It works on my boat. Give it a try.

      No-Fish Nick's Adventures I’m going to try this as I like the idea of running long leads on my divers. Do you think that adding an S clip to the rear, and hooking it to the line without a loop would make it trip more often/easier. Thanks for the great videos!

    • @NoFishNicksAdventures
      @NoFishNicksAdventures  Před 6 lety +1

      S clip stays on the release side of the dipsy (the side that locks in and releases when pulled on). The loop in your line is where you attach or remove the dipsy. Watch the beginning of the video :17 shows it in action. Just remove the whole rig off your line.

    • @brucehochstetler514
      @brucehochstetler514 Před 6 lety

      No-Fish Nick's Adventures so the only thing attached to the dipsy is the loop to the s clip? With the length of the s clip your leader should clear the rear of the dipsy? Do i have that correct? Thanks

    • @NoFishNicksAdventures
      @NoFishNicksAdventures  Před 6 lety +1

      Bruce Hochstetler, yes the loop in you line is all you attach to the S clip the back of the dipsy is left dangling with nothing attached. Just use a little tighter drag than you normally would so the fish trips the dipsy.
