I cannot help but worry that the decision years ago to sell paints (not utterly egregious at the time, though not the most customer friendly) will be a long term drag on any eventual launch version.
Custom liveries and the community that goes with sharing them is such a huge part of the longevity and popularity for games-you can see this from Forza Horizon to Disney Dreamlight Vally.

I would love there to be an in game paint shop that you could fully customize your ship with UEC instead of skins with cash, I think if it's taken this long to even get a few badly implemented ship names on them it's a long way off if it's ever going to be a thing. I don't see CIG eve allowing players to add their own images and designs to ships because that would lead to a few players making offensive ship designs and CIG having to police them

Your going to have to adopt a more realistic mindset, and worry!....what's to worry about, you mean not getting what you want, and having to conform to the current status quo?, CIG can, and do what's best for the game, nothing is promised, everything is changeable, we might get ''custom ship paint'' type filters after the game releases, but CIG have aired their concerns about modded skins/paints and their reservations. So, Cut the worrying and suck it up.

@@davewills6121 But it is industry standard to simply use moderation to handle issues with custom liveries. That’s a solved issue.
And they did explicitly promise custom paint.
All I want is for them to keep their own promises.
