Although Joanne is my least favorite Gaga album, I still appreciate it for what it is. It definitely has its moments that I love. But with country, folk, and music similar to those genres are not my faves, it lead to this album not resonating with me as much as her previous albums did. From Cheek To Cheek up until like A Star Is Born, Gaga took a step away from pop/dance music and stayed in this more stripped back sound. So when Chromatica was released years later, it was her pop comeback. Also I went to the Joanne World Tour when she came to Dallas TX, so getting to experience these songs live, made me appreciate the album more! With that being said. My top 3 from Joanne are 1. Her documentary "Gaga: Five Foot Two" is gonna make you see the part of Gaga which's never visible to any one of us. the everyday suffer and work she has to handle, after watching that documentary you gonna start questioning how's she even standing up straight. she gained so much respect from me after that. even tho I'm Gaga fan myself I never imagined if this is how she was behind the curtains, I was complete shock! you have to watch it❤️

i describe joanne as an honest, folksy/americana rock-pop album with dark honky-tonk moments & one unifying theme: to heal the world. for me personally, this is my least favorite lady gaga album in terms of production and sound. i prefer her in heavy synths with over the top lyrics just because it feeds into this gaga fantasy that makes u feel out of this world. i do however appreciate the range and the bravery it takes to put out something that sounds insanely different from her past albums. i know the whole record is very personal to her so i respect it. i can't wait til u react to her unreleased songs!

Joanne is not character either, i see it as an alter ego, meaning that it is a part of herself, gaga says that when she erases the fame from the equation, she's joanne, her middle name, she says it's what she would be if she had never become famous and hadn't found all these outlets of expression, she said that it came from a vision she had, she saw a not so glamorous woman at the back of a stadium with kids, in jeans, and dark roots, she wanted to create music for her, and she later realized it was herself.
that’s what i meant by “character” - that it’s the way she expresses herself onstage and in her artistry. definitely know it’s still connected to who she is :)
