  • NASA’s Space Launch System, the most powerful rocket ever built, is scheduled to launch for the first time on 29 August in the Artemis I mission around the moon. The rocket was rolled out to its launch pad at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on 17 August and it passed a flight readiness review on 22 August.
SLS is the most powerful rocket ever built, producing more thrust than even the Saturn V rocket that launched the Apollo astronauts to the moon. With Orion stacked on it, it is nearly 100 metres tall - taller than the Statue of Liberty in New York.

Love it! Artemis in Greek is the same goddess as Diana in Latin! Perhaps she was me in a previois life!

What a joke ill bet it doesnt launch and they park it next to starliner

Hasn't all this, allegedly, been done before?

It has been done before, what's your point? We lost manned flight capabilities beyond LEO after Saturn V retired, now we have regained it.

3 billion a launch, its a shining example to people who are against space exploration, and how many space projects were cancelled due to SLS.

Space X is Fraud. They compare the cost of launching their uncrewed craft to the Space Shuttle which is an absurd comparison to make.

@@sparkmanuk the money goes back in to the economy, also it doesn't matter if its reuseable because the next artemis mission is in two years.
It also doesn't really matter if the products is more reusable if its costs 300× more than one rocket

Its taken them quite long considering this was supppsedly done in 1972. In my opinion is that i believe that since they have done it in the past, that they learnt alot and that they could take this forward for future missions. So why did it take so long or is it taking so long? We have the tech to launch safer missions since after 72. Im still boggled by how long it has taken.... Its as if it 1972 never truly happened because this is coming across lile the first REAL moon landing. Im not a committed conspiracy follower, but sometimes when you think about things a little deeper. It makes you really wonder....

What a crock NASA. An example of how you have tried to leverage past glory but lost the plot. We are not stupid.

If SpaceX didn't get involved in the "fiasco" that is NASA's R&D and ops they (SpaceX) would've gone bankrupt after Falcon 1's 4th launch.

The government keeps delaying starship with red tape. If space x was allowed to fly they would have a working spaceship by now.

Then I suggest you head to Labpadre youtube channel and come watch 24/7/365 livetsream of the starship production and development. Itll change your mind.
