For those with autopilot issues make sure you check your game settings. Go to Games play and make sure "Game flight mode is unchecked". Auto pilot will then work fine. Your flying experience will them be outstanding.
Does this change anything else along with the autopilot? Does it make the simulator more like a game?
Thanks so much. Your videos are beyond helpful, logical and easy to understand.
SO freaking useful! Definitely going to be using this a lot more! :D
Can I combine balt and hsel?
@@infotechsailor that does work
Good stuff! Another thing about RALT. It is prohibited below 500 feet AGL. Technically you can do it but it's against the rules. And I know how "by the book" GR is. ;)
Yeah I'm sure they wont use it on below the radar 5m AGL missions. They are reasonable and surely aware of the included risks.
Fantastic work cap and shermainian
Thanks from Spain!
Great tutorial again!
Thanks guys! This is NOT included in F/A-18 training module. Keep up the videos!
Great video Cap! In addition to the excellent explanations on the current 4 A/P modes you two did, I would like to mention there is an additional autopilot method we should be getting called Coupled or 'CPL': this allows you to fly directly to a waypoint, TACAN or ILS POINT, as well as allowing you to fly a sequence of waypoints (route) automatically! :D
thx
I can't wait for this!
How can i activate that
Are we still waiting for this feature?
@@shuntera I’m sure this question isn’t relevant anymore, but if it is, coupled mode is active now.
i come from flying 737's, my god this is so different. It was nice pressing one button and the plane guides itself down.
And I never saw the autopilot disengage button. Which is why I came to this video. Damn it man!
Can you program in a certain barometric altitude that it will fly to or does it only hold whatever altitude you happen to be at? Also, is there any criteria that have to be met before altitude hold will engage? I tried to engage it tonight and nothing happened. I never got the two dots.
How is the autopilot used with programmed waypoints?
He dont know
It's now implemented, it's course select or CSEL
2:10 no one knows what you did there because you did not click any button on the panel so we are none the wiser which is not what this video is supposed to be about.
Yeah, cant see the cursor. But I realized that all selections will be deactivated once you moved the stick.
It's called the (Paddle) , hope its not too late, just got the hornet :)
@@jeal79m It's called the (Paddle) , hope its not too late, just got the hornet :)
Can you select a specific number for the BALT mode or is that just a feature for the heading?
3 questions
Can you use multiple autopilot modes at the same time? (For example, Alt. hold and Heading)
What jets have an autopilot capable of flight planning and executing flight plans using waypoints? (Sort of like civilian grade autopilot, or the autopilot tankers have).
Do any aircraft in DCS have speed hold/autothottle?
1- Yes, u can use, for example, HSEL and Barometric altitude (so useful when u are 200 away XD )
2- no idea
3- Yes, the default key for auto throttle is " T " or " Y ", i cant remember exactly. You need to stabilize a little bit your speed, press the key and a "ATC" should appear on the right side of the HUD.
@@POVmotorsport Thanks man.
Can you have both hsel and balt on? so you can maintain a flat straight path? Or can you only have one mode at a time?
In Hornet 3.0 you can use the CPL mode to track a TACAN. Maybe this can as well
can you explain a bit more please? thanks
Great video but can you clearly show where and exactly which cockpit button you are pressing ie when you press the Auto Pilot disengage button I can't see where you are doing this.
Good point. Just so you know, the Disengage button is something that you have on your actual joystick. If you need more info please search "grim reapers hornet setting controls". Thanks
Dude, I came here to just ask this question, to just see , it be answered to watch another video, sigh, way to answer a question, with answer to just find another video to find the answer lol
When I take off from a carrier and select BALT I get a master caution and it doesn't work. Its like it has a mind of its own. Then at some later magic point it works again.
Same I was just looking through the comments for any answers to this
I just keep getting "error" on the keypad after trying to enter information
Am I the only one where BALT make the plane pitch op and down constantly and it obly gets worse the longer its on? Otherwise very useful video!!
i can't activate Altitude hold ... I also don't get the two dots; the other two modes work fine
i thought there was a CPL or somthing for the AP, it would follow the waypoints
Electric Ice AFAIK there is going to be, but the CPL or coupled autopilot simply is not in yet. It allows you to fly to WPY, TCN and ILS points in your system; it will also allow you to fly a sequence of WPYs (route)
I knew it, thanks anyways
It is now implemented
sweet , thx
I keep getting master cautions. My ap doesnt work
Did I miss something or is there a way to use multiple modes at once? Like can you set a heading and an altitude? Surely this must be a feature....
Yup you can, but I don't know the rules of which you can use at same time.
Can you enter an exact speed for Auto throttle control in the UFC?
what is the name of the button in the settings to disengage Autopilot
default "A"
*** , Thinking that Auto Throttle and Altitude Hold are useful in Air to Air Refueling?
CornBread exactly what I am thinking!
hmm will find out
I would think it would be hard to get the A/P to be exactly the same as the Tanker. I hope I'm wrong though!
joyceracing99 My thinking is that you can still make minor adjustments.
I think it could actually work out, since you can definitly adjust roll while in Altitude Hold.
...and you can combine hdg and alt hold.
how? neither works
There's another autopilot mode enabled by just pressing the On/Off button. This will hold the pitch attitude and roll attitude, but if the roll is less than +/- 5 degrees, it will zero the roll and hold magnetic heading instead.
thx
Amazing tip, much thanks!
Can you/Should you use HSEL and one of the Alt holds together?
Try it? ;)
Yes, absolutely.
yes. i do it all the time
the dots dont show up for me? any help
Make sure u are level first. Also I have to hammer the button quite a few times.
Is there a sort of ACLS like in the Tomcat ?
Will be but dont have it yet.
Is ILS working? If it is working can you make a tutorial please?
I don't think so
Idk why BALT never fucking works for me i press it and the only thing it does is level horizontally but not level vertically
i click baro alt and nothing happens when i do
It can be super fidely. Make sure you are PERFECTLY level flying.
@@grimreapers ah that might be it. Thanks cap
Autopilot thru waypoints is not working for me game is broken.
what about Auto Throttle???
what is this please?
I would like to know as well.
Feed me more informations, not questions ;D
Airspeed hold?
Its a button on the throttle it holds current air speed. So you can fly heads down and not worry about speed or control. I mapped the ap button on my warthog hotas for this.
Does not work
my baro ap is not working :(
it is working. my stick had play and it wasnt in middle position
4:07, the option that appears is really handy, but is there a way to only have HSEL showing, so you can put in a heading, or the only way to get this is to hold the toggle switch to the side for a few seconds?
Wait, 70.000 feet, really? :)
this is useless. clicking ATTH and BALT both useless. plane still going crazy.
Works for me
Same here. You have to level out the plane so BALT can kick in, for example.
