- A week after a large dog mauled a much smaller dog to death near Second Beach, animal control is still searching for the dog and its owner.

Met the lady who's dog got killed in Hamilton a few weeks ago at the police station a week ago, animal control has not even attended the house where the 2 dogs that killed her dog yet, nor have police charged the owner w dangerous animal though it was on a muzzle order. Don't hold your breath for any sensible outcome, the city and authorities are morons in the modern age.

And some of these dogs are so large that even if they are leashed their owners aren't strong enough to stop the attack.

@@WhyWorldWetbut even if she was coming from Alberta or anywhere else, someone should know her in her town. It is very unlikely she was a tourist from outside Canada because they usually don’t bring large dogs when travelling.

I'd think the First Rule of responsible pet ownership is Following the Law! The beach was a NO UNLEASHED ANIMALS area. The owner unleashed her undisciplined, aggressive dog on a beach with young children! The parents of those children need to get their act together and demand authorities get the dog out of the owners hands permanently and prosecute the owner. Can we trust the authorities to do their jobs?

In Victoria Park here in Truro just a couple days ago I saw a lady release her very large dog to chase a deer! It’s an on leash area, as is the entire park. I was on a bike, it could have easily decided to chase me instead. People don’t have sense here either it seems. 😢

Shame on you for saying all of one breed is horrible. I understand they are powerful and can be dangerous, but so could my 130 pound black lab if he was raised with irresponsible owners. For all we know the dog could be a rescue and has trauma, which if so makes it worse that owner was irresponsible.

I don’t know if I would call the woman selfish maybe she loves that dog like family and she fears for his life and hearing the news and seeing as the lady in the report came forward and they still put her dog down. Just saying she may be doing it because she loves that dog and can’t stand the thought of losing her baby. That news story doesn’t exactly make someone want to come forward.

AJ, you need to understand this. First of all, this is Vancouver for you. So, "Welcome to Vancouver". The authorities will not do ANYTHING for you. (This is my personal experience.) It is not about the authorities would not identified who the owner is. It is that they do not want to do it. (Too much work for them.) Sorry to say this, just go and buy a new dog.
If she hasn't come forward by now she won't be at all. She's probably left the country by now and doesn't want to take responsibility for her actions. Or she has gone somewhere till the witch hunt on her dies down but from the videos alone she seems to not have any interest in coming forward.

I own a red nose pit bull, and its a hard job maintaining such rigid responsibility, i have to walk mine after 10 pm and muzzle him if we go out...its sad for all involved. ⚰️🪦⚖️Put yrself in her shoes, she didn't want that to happen, she loves her dog and coming forward means euthanasia and big bills she may not have ability to pay....im not sticking up for her im just explaining. An absolutely garbage thing to do, to be sure. But a surprising amount of people couldn't care less for doing what is morally right, and only do what is best for them. So I'm not surprised they would take their chances.
I bet that small dog started it all. I get it all the time. Small dog would start fronting on my dog. I had two small deliberately loose to run up on my dog. I just had a wired hair terrior run up on him.

I've successfully owned big dogs for some 40 years and can tell you that by far and away the biggest threat to a peaceful dog walk is a little toy dog, I hate them.
