Vintage 2944 Hooverette Vacuum Cleaner Unboxing & First Look

- Here I unbox a used Hooverette hand held/stick vacuum cleaner complete with a full set of tools and instructions.
Although in quite a dirty state, this vintage machine cleaned up very well and is in working order.

There were four Hooverettes, the first one was the blue one, then two green ones. The last one was orange and white. Production of the Hooverette ceased in 1980.
Those seals should be in any old metal pip fit tube, I imagine their the same size too. Ill check my 'I must throw that rubbish away one day' pile for you!

I did a search and it appears to be a mid '60's model. It does look like one of the big tank cars they used to drive. My grandfather had a car with fins like that. Can you imagine the vacuums that are made today working in fifty years?
Early 1960s. It went into production in 1961.
The different color schemes reminded me of a song called "The Leading Horse", and it goes as:
The leading horse is white... the second horse is red... the third one is a black, the last one is a green...
I thought that would have been four horsemen of the apocalypse by Aphrodite's child, no?
It is very 'space age" looking. My guess is late '50's early '60's. I love the look of the machine. I almost bought an original Bissell Sweeper. One of those that you push and it picks up larger particles. It was very old, probably early 1900's and only $15 at an antique mall but I have to place for it. I wish I had a room I could fill with antiques vacuums, telephones, typewriters, etc. You need to come to the U.S. and visit the Hoover museum.
The Hooverette went into production in the UK in 1961. The one in the video is the first version.
Other than the dry wall dust on it and the packaging, it seems to be in good shape!
i have one of these i use it to clean the car it is simply brilliant. And i have parquet i is very good on it in my opinion
needs a bit of grease or oil on the bearing might help it could you cut a henry flow bag to fit???

when we were cleaning out my great grandma's house we chuked a lode of hoover attachments from a junior pan converter

+cars and vacuum cleaners My Nanna used to have the spinmaster in the 80s then in the 90s she had a hoover single tub (not sure what the proper name is for those!) with our old hotpoint spin dryer.

hoover have a new model it looks like a vax and I have gone down to currys and chek ed it out and so far it don't seem too bad as the quality is OK for hoover . also my grandma said sebo are good but would rather have to not buy bags so I told her to get a dyson but is the d 50 better than te dc41 I said not to get the dc40 as I had a lot of bad look with mine
+cars and vacuum cleaners I have never had a DC50 or 41 so can't comment, but I wIll say that the Sebo will outlast both of them. The bags cost around £9 for 8 and can be filled right to the top before they need changing. I suggest your grandma goes to see the cleaners in a shop and try them out before deciding. I have heard that the carbon brushes on the DC50 wear put pretty quickly.

She already has the sebo automatic x professional but she saw me watching the dc41 really agitating some rice so then she wanted one. Also what do you think about the neu vacuum from hoover

Nice design and well built but sadly little more than useless .If only they had put a more powerful motor in it .
