    I had a 1975 XL250 from about 1979- 1989. That bike would go anywhere. And was as dependable as they come. Thanks for posting this, it brought back many great memories.

    Had the same bike, 1974 model, same color. I lived on STX US VI . Rode that bike every day, the best bike I ever owned.

      I found the 72 laying in the weeds for many years with grape vines all weaved around it on my bosses property. Somebody modified it back in the day and I did not know what it was. Stripped it all down and found a 74 in decent condition. The odometer on both bikes were about the same in the 8,000 range. So I built it using both bikes. 72 with a 74 tank. Bought parts on ebay. Seat and exhaust. Anyways. I really like riding this bike over my 2012 Yamaha XT250. Thank you for commenting. It also has kick start and does not require a battery. True survival Bike.

      That is funny. Took me a few years to get this Honda together and I really like it for trails. Suspension and handling works. Low center of gravity and weight. More confident on this than they XT250. Have a great day.

      I put 200 miles on it so far without a motor rebuild. Motor has about 8,500 original miles on it. Running great. Loves hills, very low geared and heavy for the sand. I feel better on this than my Yamaha XT250.

    How good are the drum brakes? Where does one get the turn signals and rear brake lights? One is for sale local for $500 so I thinking of buying but I know nothing about this bike.

    • @ZPDSurvival
      @ZPDSurvival  Před rokem

      Drum Brakes are fine. I am replacing the rears for this years riding. Total rebuild. The rear brake light was very difficult for me to find. Working on side light this year. Very difficult to find. There are aftermarket type of replacements. I want Stock. Anyways. Very good bike. If you have a chance to get one at a reasonable price. Get it. Peace. Saw your comment a few days ago. Just catching up. Have a good day.

    I’ve considered one of these bikes as a starter bike/trails but was concerned how well one would handle being that old. What’s your opinion. My other choice I was considering is an early 80s Yamaha xt250…

    • @ZPDSurvival
      @ZPDSurvival  Před rokem +1

      It depends on your size and weight as a factor. I'm 5.8 at 160. I also ride the 2012 Yamaha XL250. It's a great bike but I don't like how the front tire handle the sand with Trailwings Tires. Looking at a new set for this season. I really enjoy the Honda XL250 on our trails out here. They low center of gravity and weight. Handles very well. Like a little pack mule with some guts. I think both bikes are great starter trail enduros. Running Kenda tires on the Honda. I learned to ride on the Yamaha and Built the 72 Honda. Thanks for watching.

    I am going to just give up on hoping people will take the time and energy to make good videos that actually show the bikes riding through stuff. You all just stick cameras on your chests and go riding, and it really shows Nothing much.. If they did This in the film On ANy Sunday, do you think aanyone would have watched it back then and all through the years? Nope. Why not make videos worth watching???? sheesh.
