Martin Walsh 1 second ago It's either from late 1988 or early 1989 not 1990 I guess Don Cockburn who recently died retired in 1992 is reading the news while John Doyle is forecasting the weather of course RTE weather became sponsored by Telecom Eireann at the time until their name was changed to Eircom in 1999 until 2006 when Avonmore replaced Eircom as RTE's weather sponsor please read this comment as well of mine and every-bodies.
Was Sky News shown on RTE 1 during 1989 on weekdays from midday until 2pm. I was looking at an RTE Guide from sometime in 1989 and it said there was RTE News Headlines followed by Sky News and I think NBC News also.
It was, between 1988 and 1990 RTÉ showed two and a half hours of Sky News, from 10am to 12:30pm Monday to Friday. The schedule included the NBC news, which would be shown at 10:30 and 11:30.
The "green" RTE 1 logo was launched in 1988 - as part of a revamp which included the renaming of RTE 2 as Network 2. The logo lasted for two years. The "gold" RTE 1 logo was introduced in the Autumn of 1990.
Green Indent lasted (1988-1989), Gold (1989-1993), St Bridget's Cross Brown indent (1993-1995) current RTE logo was on all indents since there should be more older RTE programmes even advert breaks from the 1960's & 1970's should be online. There is an end of a advert at the beginning of this news.

Don Cockburn was a great newsreader?
I don't think this is from 1990 because I remember the RTE logo from 1990 and it wasn't green.
