- Hello beautiful people,
Today we are going on a road trip from Bafoussam to Foumban (roughly 90 minutes). We visit the Bamoun Palace (The Foumban Royal Palace), we explore Foumban and learn a ton about Bamoun culture and heritage. It's amazing!
NB: Bamoun is also spelt Bamum, Bamun, Bamoum or Mum.
Hope you enjoy!
xx, Mutombo

I noticed that a lot of tribes/villages/towns especially in the West and Northwest region begin with “Ba.” Some that come to mind are Bafoussam, Batoufam, Bamoun, Bamenda, Banso, Bafut, Babanki, Bafangi, Bali, Batibo….I know other regions also have the same, like Bakweri, Bayangi, Bakossi. I was wondering if “Ba” signifies something, like how some French places use “ville” for places like Louisville, or how some countries use “land” in their names, like Poland, England, Finland, Iceland, etc. Anyways, I’m just curious and thinking aloud, hoping someone can educate me.
Yes yes yes, so in most ‘Bantoid’/‘Bantu-based’ languages, ‘Ba’ means ‘land of’ or ‘village of’. So Princess Mipo actually explained that ‘Batoufam’ means ‘Land of Toufam’, Toufam being the name of the founding people or founding family. I just unfortunately didn’t catch that bit on Camera and forgot to include it as onscreen text. Thanks for asking. 🙏🏽 I’ll pin your comment so others see.
@@mutomboinprogress Thanks for satisfying my curiosity, Mutombo! ♥️Good to know!
"BA" might be prefix in relation with Bantu.
@@esthergrace6466 thanks for asking. I noticed the recurrence of Ba- as well and was going to ask too. Now we've all been educated 😊

Thank you so much, Cordeilla. It’s a pleasure to explore our culture and present to the world. Duala is definitely on my list ✊🏽🙌🏽
Cameroon is a beautiful country !
Thanks Joe 🙏🏽. It’s very rich in culture ❤️
Beautiful history. We bow down to Cameroon, the most artistic country ever!! Your people take art and architecture to another, another level. You should really position yourselves as the furniture and art capital of the world. People would flock to buy.....but it's such a shame about the Sultan who passed away. At 83 years old, he could have told you so much about Cameroon's history.
Hahahaha You have beenGetting a healthy dose of Cameroon lately 😁😁. I’m glad you’re enjoying what we have to offer. lots of potential in Cameroon and we need to not let it go to waste
Mutombo, keep pushing. The sky will soon be your starting point
Thank you Salic, For these positive words and overall positive spirit. 🙏🏽I’m sure you are a blessing to those around you 💜

Hahaha Dzashe, wow you have an eye for details 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽. Thanks a million ❤️
Bamoum Kingdom has a rich culture. I once attended their annual festival called 'The Ngoun' years back and their cultural display for guests was very colourful and interesting. The two headed snake couldn't be missed.
Africa is one. Keep up the good work 👌💪👍 ❤️
Wow!!
Africa really is one. Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
Yes I also think that she must have attended the Ngoun. She is very articulate.
bienvenue à Bafoussam
Merci la belle!
I really love this video series. I hope these projects you are doing ground work for come to fruition and are what they seem to be. I hope they don't just end up as another means to exploit Cameroonians. We have suffered enough.
Before even going on this trip, I actually went and watched Trudy’s video on a similar project in Kenya as well as read up on some of the work that they have been doing. So far, they were able to create jobs in villages where the locals were employed to run these facilities rather than bringing outside people. If they are able to replicate that kind of model here, without disrupting the culture and tradition of the people, then I think that would be good for the community. That’s actually one thing the Batoufam Fon said during his interview with Miss Trudy. He said the project is welcome but it should not try to change the people. We will stay tuned to see the progress. Thanks Janice!

The building of the two headed snakes gives me the creeps 😢
Okay, just from going through your comments, I can tell you really don not like snakes 😆😆😆
Shalom my dear sister, I couldn't hold my peace after watching all this videos of the so called kingdom, native doctor kings and their evil traditions and satanic festivals.i love my country Cameroon i love the landscape, the diversities of tribes,we are bless by God,one of the things still keeps us in darkness and bondage is this traditions and festivals, wicked kings that manipulate their subjects to see them as a god, keepers and custodians of evil traditions and evil practices causing infetility, poverty in their communities, refusing anything good that would be of help, just show me one tradition that is a blessing from this so called kings they are the inventors of evil going on in the villages casting spells on their subjects through ancestral covenants, initiations through witchcraft in collaboration with their native doctors or fetish priest and priestesses, piercing the hearts of the common man through their idolatry practice .no wonder they will always collect from their subjects to take care of them they also Will literally refuse any light of God s Mercy to over their subjects just maintain them in pepertua darkness,i partly blame some of our people who are completely blind they will still go take part in these pratices, that's why most Africans are haunted both spiritually and physically.we have one God and father of our Lord JESUS CHRIST who will not share his glory with any man as a Christian should not take part in those traditions nor eat or encourage such rather preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and the importance of salvation to the people, this kings have made up their mind to go to hell, but wants to bring along his subjects as first class candidate of hell, may the Lord have mercy on the ignorant and save his own from this distruction that is coming.
God bless you sister
God bless you too 🙏🏽
