Description: In part one (1 of 3) of this scat singing overview series, Michele takes you through key aspects of the use of rhythm, syllables and articulation to achieve an authentic jazz sound. Special attention is paid to developing a strong sense of inner rhythm and the development of a syllabic repertoire. Specific exercises in the class will help you build skills and provide a method for continued practice. This class is designed for beginning and intermediate level vocal improvisers, but can be useful for all. (No theoretical knowledge required.)

Can we not use the scat system to count beats? I just can’t feel the 1&a&e.
I am an adult trying to learn rhythm and Harr’s counting method just isn’t doing it for me. I would love to just scat rhythms like Louis Armstrong used to do. Is there a syllable counting system based on the scat syllables I can use? If not, some one needs to write one based on a limited set of well know scat syllables for a full set of note combinations for beginners. Something that will work in various music genres.
Heck, I’ll collaborate in the writing part. I got some talent to produce nice edited work.
