Apparently Paul did have terrible stage fright at first. It’s come back in recent years because he’s starting to forget the words to some of the many hundreds of songs he’s had to remember over the years. Guy really does have the memory of an elephant to remember all these songs’ words, basslines AND guitar parts for almost sixty years. Totally understandable to forget some!

Paul McCartney has adapted and has been able to keep up with all the modern musicians (in my opinion he's doing a little bit better than some who are meant to be at the top).
My point is, if you want to stay relevant in music, you need to adapt, and Paul has always adapted with the times.
