Yup. A 2 ohm sub hits perfectly, I have 2 Kicker L7's dual 4 ohm wired to 2 ohm. 600 Watt RMS. People literally freak out I get that power and clarity out of 1200 watts, ported box 😊

@@ricardoibanez2759 You wouldn't believe what you could get out of 200-300w RMS back in the 90s; idk if it was a perfect storm, all I can say what the parts were and it doesn't make sense compared to the numbers you all use today.
The amp: Kenwood KAC-818 200w@4ohm, 300w@2ohm with Sigma Servo feedback loop.
The sub: Audiovox 18" someone found and gave me; was old and dusty in the mid 90s.
The box: sealed, 24x24x18, 1/2" MDF screwed together and sealant put on inside, made by my father :p
      the car: RX-7 GXL hatchback
my guess is for some reason, the shape of the rear window turned the cabin of the car into a bandpass and magnified the intensity in the car and out. They told me they could hear me right before I came over the hill at a light a mile away (well, 5,000 ft; I used Google Maps just to make sure I wasn't making that distance even more its been a couple decades).
The speaker is gone, about to use the amp again with a Kicker CompRT 8" I modified the stock sub box to fit and give it a bit more space, matched to pull 300w from the amp (4ohm dvc). Its in a CR-Z, so small car, daily ... next step is sound dampening after I get the modified stock box in, amp and 2-farad cap in, then replacing stock speakers.
just getting into it again. enjoyed listening to this gentleman in the video here.

same with jl slash jbl and tons of others

    • @JViello
      @JViello Před 2 lety +5

Nah, it has everything to do with current. To move a ton of current with lower voltage it creates a lot of heat and stresses components vs high voltage and lower current. (Higher ohm load) If sonic purity had *ANYTHING* to do with speaker load, Soundstream would have never been recognized as one of the best sounding amp...while being 1/8th ohm stable. IF an amp loses SQ while running a low amp load, it's simply because the architecture of the amp is making is unstable.
Watts are watts. 100w comes from 10 amps @100 volts, or 100amps @ 10 volts. Some applications would require high voltage and low current, and others would work better with high current and low voltage. That's all. No offense to the creator of this vid, but he's way off...or at least in realizing why/how that low impedance load sounds worse.

Hey bro, I am new to your channel, I am enjoying this. I have been a car audio hobbyist for years. I’ve always been fascinated by the way impedance and power worked, even though they were rated for 1ohm I have witnessed or know of the death of many amps and woofer, unless they’re really well built , because what people may not know is that impedance can change with different frequencies within a song. It’s why I always liked sticking with 4/2 ohm minimum loads. Though I wasn’t hitting as loud and “ringing “as everyone else, but I guess it’s why I still have amps around that have survived 25 plus years. Anyhow brother you’re teaching gems 👍🏽👍🏽🔥🔥🔥

The timing is perfect. My Audio Control lc1.800 just dropped in volume by 75%. No codes or lights. While it goes out for repair, I'm going to replace it with a Rockford Fosgate T1000-1bdCP. It far more amp than what I need for my JL Audio Stealth box with two 10w1v3's but I want them to be as clean as possible and I can run them of that amp at 4ohms and still have power on tap. I’m keeping my 4 kickers 15 comp at out at 4 ohms and on a seperate amp for the 2 l7s and 2ohms to help control it all.. but 💯on every way you used your explanations.. faucet open/tricking and dripping.. and the control of the power for 4 ohm better than that of a 2 then a 1.. and the speaker stops on a dime at 4 and it stronger but wilder at 1 ohm.. so more control is way better if you have the power watt size to cover the watts at 4 ohms.. but you have to suplimate the power with well needed control..
more movement.. more friction.. less life too.. the best in the middle.. straight up this is the best informed hit on every point I needed to look for when I hit this video.. Ice been doing *personal* custom audio for 25+ years, always been the goto guy for friends from 7th or 8th grade til now having a kid out imof college. All I'm saying is I've got a pretty good understanding of audio systems, and pretty good idea how electricity works from engineering courses in high school and college. Point is, well Saud, great points, all valid; but I was so lost by the end I closed youtube and ordered a new inline water heater, new garden hose handles, a lift pump for master bedroom shower upstairs and emailed the city about enlarging the plumbing from street to house. This video has already cost me 12,000 dollars 😂 good job brother. Could be a politician, and all in good fun, I hope you know that. ❤

The thing with car audio, is you can mix cheap shit with quality stuff, and the funny thing is you can make it work. That's why car audio is so fun. I come from the Pyramid days...

Thank you for the way you explain these things that at first glance appear to come from outer space. Electrical work used to scare me because it was all book work. I am and always have been a person who learns by getting hands on. Especially when the one who has the knowledge can articulate it in a way that is understandable. You have a way of saying it as well as metaphorically painting a picture that makes the outcome of the description crystal clear. Your encloses are so clean and I've always learned just exactly what I was looking for if you have an explanation for a particular issue I may be experiencing. Or like this video, just gaining a bit more knowledge for later on down the road where itll come in handy no doubt. Thank you man because that's a gift you've got when you can reach people without putting them to sleep. Keep up the clean work my friend and you already know what them haters do. I respect your opinion and the work you do man. Look forward to seeing what the future holds. Respect...

I’m sorry but this man needs to be a teacher. I legit just learned so much by watching this video! Hat off to you brother. Awesome video. I will be 100 percent honest this was the best 20 minutes of any video I watched today. I just purchased two scar ddx 12” D2 “ 2ohms”. I am going to wire both subs for a final impedance of 2ohms. I don’t think I could get 1 ohm out of two 2ohm subs. The amp does say it can run 1ohm
The amp is the Skar rp2000

I liked your video as I have the 2 ohm 15s, I plan on doing 2 amps, 1 to each sub at 2 ohms, it's nice to have all that power, and NOT need it!!!

I have a 12" running at 8 ohms and a 10" at 4 ohms. I use 2 entry-level monoblocks. The bass has a kind of immediacy and texture that a 2-ohm sub cannot deliver. These are my subjective hearing experience. This video saved me a ton of money and hassle: decent entry-level monoblocks will get the job done! Thanks for explaining this often-overlooked topic.
