Moral of the Story: Comfort > Realism
Those flimsy cockpit designs are coming back due to inflation. Entry level is the only option for many.
Sadly, I did not listen, and got one, that same one that every sells, from 10 sellers on amazon, to playseat, with that center bar being the only support for the wheel. It was a cmplete waste, my desk was studier and I ended up getting a next level racing cockpit. That was legit, and I am still enjoying that one. But I am still salty about that first one
I bought my G29 10 years ago, and back then it wasn't considered a budget choice. That was my fourth Logitech wheel for PlayStation. As I remember, back then, there were few other choices. It was basically considered top of the line. Thrustmaster popped up somewhere through that period, but I had already been using Logitech products since the mid-90s, so it was a no-brainer. I took a break myself for a few years to be a caregiver for a family member. It had probably been an 8-year span or so since I had looked into any new equipment technology. Gave me a warm fuzzy feeling to see that it's still in production. It took me 6 years to shake a screw loose in the G29. 30 minutes and a CZcams video, and it was fixed. Logitech customer service can continue napping
Those bucket seats are rediculous, there's no way you're going to be thrown out of your chair unless there's a major earthquake but a harness takes it to a whole new level of stupidity.
I would tend to agree, but I just saw a comment from someone who was leaning whenever it gets intense, he was leaning forward and causing himself pain by bad posture basically. So I can see that side where the strap keeps you in place.
Wouldn't say that, especially after finding the right bucket seat for you. Can basically sit in it for hours without pain
I have the NLR GT Lite and think its perfectly adequate for something like a logitech wheel or lower powered dd base . I have no issue with comfort, it's highly adjustable for all shapes and sizes of people, and has minimal flex unless you're intentionally yanking at the wheel and slamming on the brakes as if you're trying to put your foot through a wall. Perfect rig for getting started imo.
Agree, it's a good entry point and beats an office chair/desk combo by a huge margin. Considering it's under 200 Eur/USD it is good value.
Would it work fine with a 8-10nm wheel base or do you think that would be too much?
@@AB-on9ww you're most likely gonna get a bit too much flex at those forces. Think 5nm is realistically the most you could go without excessive flexing.
I used the harnesses without a motion rig. I was getting pain after long races and hadn’t realised that I was leaning forward in the seat when things were getting hectic and this was messing with my arm movements when steering because I was compacting the space by leaning forward and caused shoulder pain.
I put the harness on and locked me back into the chair and my ergonomics went to what they were meant to be and the pain was gone and I was steering more smoothly too.
That's really interesting!! I'm glad you found a use for it
Just relax, easier said than done. Best seat is the seats in my car.
You were pretty spot on with most of it. The only one you were way off on is the fanatec pedals and 5bf you said you hadn't used th v2s. They may kinda look the same as v1s but the brake is miles and I mean miles better. Tbh in mine and most that have tried these as well as the v3s the brake on the v2 feels so much better than the v3s. The refresh of them made them some of the best feeling mid range pedals on the market.
Fair enough , he rated the peripherals he tried , had he compared moza r12/r16 with the new Cs dd12/15 he wouldnt say moza is better quality than fanatec. Or thats just part of the gig when your being sent stuff for free.
@jean-francoislegault7289 uve tried both for several weeks. I used my buddies moza r9 for 2 weeks and had used the csl dd 8nm and without question the fanatec is better in feeling as well with heat. The r9 get rather warm that heat as well with monitor is right in front of your face. Thr Fanatec case never gets even remotely warm. It always cool to touch.
Young DG was an unexpected but delightful part of this video.
I have trak racer gt seat and I put a cushion behind my back day 1 and found it really comfortable
I really enjoyed this video, it's a great summary of different types of sim products over time
Getting the seat add on to the Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0 is the same thing as the gttrack, so I’m glad it’s at least not bad for my next upgrade
I use a Mini za R12 and all the other Moza stuff with CRP pedals and it's amazing I love it and there customer service is next level
Do you have trouble getting your NXT level triples stand close to your range without hitting your rig? I have one still in the box and have the NXT sim rig and it looks like the sheels arent going to get close enough to my vision range because the stand where it meets the floor is going to hit the front of my rig. I want the screens to be just behind my base or wheel.
The folding rig slander continues with no end in sight. I really want to see that comparison video.
I just bought a foldable playseat challenge x. So comfortable that I fell asleep on that. I'll pay money to be able to fold and remove it from my living room as well. Considering it's completely budget, what a win win :D
@@asra6166 are you using a DD wheel base?
@@AB-on9ww bought a moza r9 but yet to hook it up. waiting for my logitech pro pedals to come.
@@asra6166 awesome! If you remember this thread let me know what you think. I’m looking at pretty much exact set up. Moza r9 with pedals on the next level GT light foldable.
@@AB-on9wwi plan for same but with G Pro. Let us know!!
I recommend that you either go for the Moza KS or the Moza fsr which connect to any wheelbase you like, just remember to buy the Moza hub which gives you the option to use these wheels on different wheelbases like simcube. Tbh go for the Moza FSR because it looks and feels about phenomenal
Folding rigs are great.
Just got my r12 and absolutely loving it
By the way Moza sells a universal hub kit so you can use their wheels with non-moza wheelbases, it's not cheap but if you like their wheel that much it's definitely worth the expense
Unfortunately that doesn't work for the wheel rim I have :(
@@daniel_gray10 oh really? I'm quite surprised to learn that, why would they gate keep one of their better wheels? Sounds quite anti-consumer if I do way so myself
Great Video!!! :) Couldnt imagine that NLR Seat to be that comfy tbh. I am really considering buying it :D
Have same rig and that ES1 seat no problems with the rig(let us know if that beefier version actually adds anything as i kind of doubt it besides extra cost) but the seat i need to use an extra pad on lower back so i guess depends on person. I still use old Fanatec belt driven CS v2.5 and don't really see much reason to upgrade with v3 pedals that have simagic haptic reactors.
Nice work!.....enjoyed
I use the harness to keep myself from slouching
Great overview of what you had to get where you are today. The only thing is I wished you would of called out two other sim racers on CZcams to do the same thing.
Awesome video, couldn't look away
Holy shit the NLR is expensive for what it is.
Folding rigs improve immersion and racing position. As VR racer I love the playseat (have no room for anything else).
CS V3: "They look really nice...." That is the most hideous throttle pedal design on the market 🤣 and I cant believe moza copied it....
Good video DG. Got to say it’s the first time I’ve heard someone use their floor being uneven as an excuse for triple monitors being offset. 😆
A shoddy craftsman always blames his… room 😂
Have Playseat Challenge and G29 combo for F1 racing and im super happy!
Hang on a mo, a triple monitor mount has to do a single task well, I wouldn't say just because it holds monitors but is a pain to use is "good" but passable. That doesn't shout good design in the slightest.
With such limited time to go over everything I missed some points, I put it in good because it’s easy to adjust and looks good, but honestly top of passable might of been more accurate!
Yay new vid from our beat aim racing degen- u meant proffesinal 😅
the harness is for motion rigs
Good list. I will check out the chair. I need a new one this month. I went with asetek prima cos I got a decent deal local. £250 off new price. I like moza, I think simagic are making nicer stuff imo. I think asetek stuff ugly ATM. Pedals look real nice tbh. Just the wheels. Sim racing is definitely peaking. Next step gotta be more manufacturers making them simucube pedals and bringing that price down. £4k for 2 is so damn expensive, I don't doubt they are worth it too. Its hard to buy pedals for a simulator when my car only cost £1800 lol. Its hard to justify £1k for them lol.
For someone who whinges about barefoot sim racing a lot, the sock reviews are awfully quiet…
Csl elite has 6nm mate not 5nm.
I have the csl dd 8nm and my Dad has the csl elite.
Yes you're right, it's basically just as good as a DD
I was pretty happy with my csl elite base until one day, I was in the process of spinning out I turned all the way to the right max and put a little to much muscle in it, something popped. Now I can hear something loose in the wheel. Also the first few laps the ffb has a spongy feel to it and makes a squeaky noise sometimes. The ffb doesn't seem as strong anymore either. I've been racing like that for over 3 years now. I'm cheap 😂😂.. probably going to get a simagic alpha mini once I decide what cockpit to get. Really want a gt1 pro by sim lab, but $250 for shipping is holding me up.
Can confirm that Trak Racer seat is terrible. Good list though!
this is the stuff you owned...have you tried any other seat? if so...which and how would you compare with ES1 seat?
I've tried a bunch of other seats and enjoyed them, but the problem is only for 30 mins or less at a time. For example with the Trak Racer GT seat, for 30 mins or less it was great, but after a 2 hour racing session my back was screaming, so I'm really hesitant to recommend anything I have not used for long periods.
People seem to like seats from pretty much every major manufacturer though, and obviously your body shape and back might prefer something else! You can always go to a wreckers and get an old car seat as well... never fails! haha
@@daniel_gray10 car seat has too much flex on the lower back. thanks for the input, im surprised its so comfy and you cant really add more cushion? unless you rope it around the seat
Whose saying bad things about v3's? I feel they are hard to beat for the price.
I 100% agree with the TR GT seat being absolute trash. Painful. Other drivers in my team with the same seat agree also. The bin is where it belongs.
See ya again next "week"
upload = no unsubscribe lol promises kept promises earned
Simucube not goated smh
I know right. That was blasphemy.
Under two thousand subscibers and companies are sending you free gear? Who did you blow?
Firstly, amazingly worded comment. Secondly, I’m a twitch streamer who just started CZcams hahaha
