This is the theme I grew up on. It just screams 1990s.
After years of hating the satin sheets opening, I remember being so happy to get a new opening featuring the cast again. But to this day I wish they would go back to a version of the Peabo Bryson theme.
Loved that Dorian was the first cast member of this opening!
Wow...the original Cristian, played by Yorlin Madera. As good of an actor as Jerry Ver Dorn is, Clint Ritchie will always be Clint Buchanan
I wonder if he would've lived longer had he stayed on the show? Some people seem to pass away right after a major change like the loss of a loved one, their home or their job...

Oh wow. Over 13 years since this opening. So many memories, storylines, and the characters that have come and gone, like the old Clint, Nathan Fillion, the original Todd, Kelly, Cristian, and Jessica, Cord, a young Tuc, and Andy. Wow.
I really liked Chris McKenna's portrays of Joey. I know they wanted to age the Joey character and replace him with Nathan Filion. especially since he started having sex with Dorian. I still see Chris on TV shows a lot so he continues to be an accomplished active actor.
And now over 13 years since this comment. Time is a cruel mistress.
Susan Bedsow Horgan was the executive producer/show runner of One Life to Live at the time this opening sequence made its debut. Also at this time, the show was averaging a 4.5 rating (ranking 7th out of 11 soaps at the time).

All because the networks just assumed that the OJ Simpson murder trial was what everyone who watched daytime dramas was *more interested in* so the soaps got bum-rushed off the air and a massive number of viewers who didn't want to watch the so-called "trial of the century" just tuned out and never returned...
I remember this like it was yesterday! I rewound it at least a dozen times I was so HAPPY to be done with that hated "Dove Bar" opening. If I remember, this was right around the time "The City" debuted so there were 2 cool new ABC themes to look forward to! :)
Sadly, they had to take Todd's picture out like a week or 2 later as he "died"... thus igniting the Blair/Marty war still being waged today.

One Life to Live ranked 5th out of 10 soaps the week of November 20-24, 1995, with a 4.8/18, beating out As The World Turns’s 4.6/16 and Another World’s 3.2/11.
In the key demo of Women 18-49, OLTL ranked 4th with a 3.8/25, beating out ATWT’s 2.8/18 and AW’s 2.5/16.

Debuted 13 years ago today as of November 20, 2008. They still are using this theme, but in a cheaply remixed format. I thought they would update on 13th anniversary of this theme song.
@tnaimpact I was actually about to turn 3 when this opening first appeared. I remember watching some episodes with my grandmother, before she passed on in December 2001.

@downwithapathy The ironic thing is he said his last lines the next day and appeared onscreen one last time on the 22nd. After being featured for 2 openings, they removed him in the November 28 episode's remixed opener. Never seen again for 8.5 months.

@MrChicago891 None of them have ever featured all characters on the same day since November '91. I hope you are not are using this 15.5 year old VHS-quality opening as an example in comparing it against a full quality 2011 opening, as this one has superior orchestration, at least since a full orchestral version was added in August 1997. Most of you haven't heard full HD quality 1997-2001 & 2001-04 openings to hear the extra background instruments & vocalists as CZcams doesn't convert them well.

That was the first actor to play the role, Yorlin Madera. After he played the role for a few years, David Fumero took over and played the part until the show ended.
@earlymid90schild Three years ago I read a very old summer article about the USO from the 1980s that placed her at an age of someone born in 1959. Most legal records claim her to be born in 1961, but a few sources at the time gave dates of 1960 or 1959.
So did I, thumbs up.
No one knows or can know that, but ABC officials. It would very expensive for me to exactly know that. About maybe 30-40 times in 8 1/2 years.

@izzatluv Roger Howarth said in an interview in Soap Opera Digest that he hated playing Todd, I for one loved him playing that character...there's a scene he did with a talking cockatoo or a parrot, that was funny as hell.

Sorry, that site is so inaccurate & I wouldn't want a single soul to trust it. The guy who runs it, David Evan Smith, mislead me on a "September" 1997 set & made me end buying the same August version in the 9/29-30/97 episodes. It was actually updated in MID-October, not even September! So, because of that I'm missing one Bo opening from Q4 of 1997. Their AMC section is worse and VERY unreliable. Only there GH site is 100% right. I'm going to do my best to provide info on all opening versions.

I hated the way ABC gave all of their soaps the same studio packaging graphics (i.e. the black studio background w/ those stadium-like lights, blue, yellow, orane colors and what not) on all the intros of their soaps.
And thanks to ABC for making a shitty jazzed-up version of the OLtL theme tunes and especially the GH theme tune.
Worse them from the show, all the others were great.
