    Spot on. At Tough Mudder, Spartan, and Rugged Maniac, the rings were about 18-24" apart.

    You guys RAWK!! if I hadn't seen this I would have missed the multi rig n Boise. (Altho there were only rings..not sure how they call that a multi) I missed the ring on the first attempt and quickly remembered seeing your video on Hand to hand method. Muscled thru it and saved myself 30 burpees :D Thanks

      @OCRKings  Před 6 lety +1

      AWESOME!!! Fantastic, so glad the technique worked for you. And nice job using it in your race and avoiding those burpees!! We just used the same technique at Toughest Mudder East on Kong Infinity. The rings there are farther apart, but the technique still works. Thank you for checking in and sharing your experience. If you have more races this season, hit us up and let us know how you do. Thanks again - Mack and Damer.

    One should highlight the need to create swing with your back hand and hips to create momentum to reach the next ring

  • @n3jikun
    @n3jikun Před 7 lety +5

    Thanks for the video! But I feel like those rings are farther apart to each other in an actual race than in the video making the hand to hand technique harder to execute

      @OCRKings  Před 7 lety

      Thanks for the comment. We're working on a few new videos for the Rig. One of which we will spread the rings out WAY further. We'll also have some new objects up there too (ropes, baseballs, chucks, handles...)

    Hi guys, aside from the obvious of grip strength, do you have any other insight as to managing the fat ropes without knots at the end of the obstacle? Those killed me at NJ this past April and I have a feeling we will see them at Killington in September. I don't see anything in the rule book that says you can't grab at the top of the rope, but checking on reddit, it seems at some events they say it's not allowed and at others the staff encourages it. I've been doing addition grip training as I want to be prepared for a "not allowed" day, but would welcome anything you guys can offer beyond that. As always, thank you. You guys rock!

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  Před rokem

      Ok, as far as the ropes on the multi-rig, we always try to grab as high as possible. Are you running Elite or AG? If not, I wouldn't worry about any negative feedback from "officials" and as to that, we've never heard of any "improper" ways to grab the ropes. If it's doesn't say it expressly in the printed rules on Spartan's site, grab wherever works successfully for you. Good luck at Killington my friend. We will miss it this year. The map is up already and it looks like the multi-rig is at the end. If things don't go well there as far as "not allowed" technique, etc., at least you are at the end of the course! One good thing about the fat ropes too, is that they don't have that slick coating that the thinner black ropes Spartan uses for things like the Rope Climb. We find the fatter ropes easier to grab and hold on to. Either way, you're gonna do great. Grab the ropes however works best for you and go from there. Keep moving and get to that Fire Jump! AROO!

      @@OCRKings I appreciate the reply. While I run open class, I hold myself to the same standards as AG (one of these days I'll actually do AG). I guess I'll go high this time. Too bad you guys won't be there, it would be great to meet you sometime. Enjoy the rest of the season.

      Weird, only one item listed at: www.amazon.com/shop/ocrkings/list/4L1VGAIJ9WXT ?
      If need be try this direct link to Damer's gloves: amzn.to/3F6Wsp4 It looks like Mack's gloves from 3M are currently unavailable.

    Are there any specs for the rings that Spartan uses? Or are the ones you train with similar enough? I'm looking to get some to train, and wondering what I should buy.

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  Před 2 lety

      The rings we have from amazon (www.amazon.com/shop/ocrkings?listId=4L1VGAIJ9WXT) are a hard plastic. The spartan ones we've seen are a painted steel. They are definitely close enough for good training. Both get a little slick when wet, but I think spartans get a bit more slick if its raining or the multi-rig comes after a water obstacle. Hope that helps!

  • @rimrocka
    @rimrocka Před 7 lety +2

    I'll have to practice this...Bc of my 7ft armspan I normally do the George of the Jungle swing. Any how, my last spartan race there were rope segments hanging down with a knot or baseballs on the end, would you use this hand to hand method with the rope segments as well? I'd assume, hand to hand but place one hand over the other???

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  Před 7 lety

      GREAT QUESTION - we have gotten a few requests/questions about other layouts. We have to re-config and put some of them to the test. Were the baseballs at SoCal? Rope segments we tend to do hand to hand, lead hand tends to go out first and ends up UNDER followup/support hand. For me left hand goes out, grabs, right hand comes to and grabs above. Baseballs/cannon balls are a different story... That one needs some testing. Thanks for hitting us up - we got some work to do!!

    • @rimrocka
      @rimrocka Před 7 lety +1

      Thanks! I'll keep that in mind! The baseballs were in the Utah Super, I have a feeling they'll be in the Lake Tahoe Beast and I want to be ready.

    • @christianlalisan1530
      @christianlalisan1530 Před 7 lety

      same here. In the Spartan Super 2016 in Diablo Del Grande near SF, they first had the pipe, then 3 ropes with the knot, then 3 rings AND 3 ropes with the baseball. I only made it to the 3rd ring and fell. :/

      Dude I made it by the skin of my teeth. I almost fell off of the knotted ropes twice. But I hear the lake Tahoe multi rig is nuts. What day are you running Lake Tahoe?

    Hey OCR Kings - I'm building my own multi-rig setup....what length and diameter of pipe did you guys use in your backyard setup?

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  Před 3 lety +1

      Excellent! We upgraded since this video to a 6' long, inch and a half diameter pipe, or aluminium tube we go from Lowes. Light but rigid, strings up there nicely with carabiners and climbing runners.

    • @cameronjohnson5529
      @cameronjohnson5529 Před 3 lety

      OCR Kings thanks guys - will try that myself....I’m guessing a 1 1/2 inch diameter pipe should be strong enough and a close or exact match to what Spartan uses on the actual obstacle

  • @tpocai
    @tpocai Před 7 lety +2

    It is nice but in our country, Slovakia, we never had the rings so close to each other, so you need more swinging momentum to get to the next ring...

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  Před 7 lety

      Thanks for letting us know - that's good information. If you can, please let us know the approximate distance of the rings on the obstacle you were on. We'd like to reconfigure our rig and try it out. Thanks!
