  • Some Edge Pro user's are using angle cubes to help give them a better idea of EXACTLY what angle they are sharpening their knives at. But if you're going to go the extra mile, let's make sure you're doing it correctly. Watch this video to make sure you're not missing this one important step.

    Cody, you've always been there for me. Always picking up the phone and talking straight. Keep up the great work and keep turning out great vids!

    I have an angle cube for reference, but you are 100% correct. Just mark the edge with a sharpie and you are good to go. Btw, love the new slide guide it makes sharpening folding knives so much easier :)

    Very good advice. I‘m going to use an angle gauge with my Apex system from the start now. Apparently, keeping a very exact angle goes a long way towards having a sharp blade.

    Good advice I use angle gauge all time but I'd like to get away from that as all knives are always sharpened differently

    Wouldn’t have known to use a angle gauge. Cool to know.

    I use the digital angle gauge all the time. Am I considered "hung up" on a specific angle? J/K!
    The marker works only if ALL your stones are of the same height/thickness.
    I have a variety of stones from different manufacturers, and they all do not have the same thickness. We are talking about a change of 1 to 2 degrees from one brand to the next. If you don't check, one to two degrees means you're either polishing the shoulder or the apex with your polishing stones.

    A few of my knives are hollow ground with a very small flat at the spine so it's almost impossible to hold the blade on the flat while sharpening. Would this method work on these knives too? In other words, can I just lay the blade flat on the tabe with only the edge protruding over the edge of the table and then just set the angle like in this video? Thank you

    Can’t you just put the knife on the edge pro then the angle cube on the knife and zero the cube. Then set you desire angle on the stone?

    • @anthonywaldrep5982
      @anthonywaldrep5982 Před 4 lety +1

      You would have to zero the angle cube on the blade table first and then measure the grind on the knife second.

    • @EdgePro
      @EdgePro  Před 4 lety +2

      You'd still get the knife sharp - but on a knife like this the angle cube would not be giving you the precise sharpening angle. However, there are some knives where your method would read accurately. It would just depend on which surface you are resting the knife while you sharpen.
