As a old CB radio operator from the 70s just before they stopped us from having to buy a license. I had learned it depends on the weather conditions I have taken a CB radio with only 4 watt's and talked from Alabama to Canada it was raining that night but just as the rain stopped the signal was gone.

Is it a hexnut visible behind the volume knob ? Thats OK on a DIY radio, but not on this one. And regarding the loudspeaker I preferred the look on the pictures from some months ago. Again it looks like DIY.

Thanks, Steve. I’ve played with my ‘6100 enough to know that the ‘5105 is/was still the better radio. The >75 loud birdies on the ham bands on the ‘6100 alone is enough to make very cautious about Xiegu’s next ‘everyone’s a beta tester’ offering. Still, it does look nice & sounds promising. We’ll see if Xiegu can deliver a complete & fully functional non-beta radio for once but I’m deff not holding my breath. Stay well, amigo. 73 de W8IJN

I had the 5105 and 6100 for a few months. I think the only drawback of these radios is the software. They should care more about the user experience and functions. I sold them and bought an IC-705 rather, because it's very comfortable, and never let me in trouble. It was fascinating, that all feature worked much more than I expected. Although I'm curious about this RIG too, I would like to see something about Wolf DDC DUC radios too, they look promising, although the price is almost as much as a used 705. Did you try them?

I am not sure if I will be replacing my 6100. I think this might allow them to push the same OS improvements back to the 6100 which would be great (speculating is fun). I like the band plan. 8W is just crazy though. I think I will be getting an FX-4CR when that becomes available again. That 20W in the FX-4CR is awesome. The expansion packs thing is really interesting. imagine if this were All Band/All Mode🤯. They would kill everything else. And the whole industry would have to adjust, which would be great for us🥳.
