Wow, last second, last minute chase last night resulting in a gorgeous supercell west side of Phoenix for about 15 minutes. I missed most of it earlier, it was raging for like 90 minutes but life got in the way of me getting there earlier.
Still, seeing these kings of things in Phoenix is rare and what a treat, especially with the bolts! - Věda a technologie
Mike is chasing! It's officially spring!
Nice when you don't have to travel far to get a good storm! A rarity! Love it!
Hello, Mike, it is good to see this. I always enjoy your work. I remember the great storms near the Chiricauhua Mountains in August 2022, and you were right in that area the same time I was - we saw the same storms. Thank you for the beauty you share with all of us.
Those were great storms, I think I remember that! Appreciate the kindness!
Beautiful desert coming this spring! Glad you got those amazing pics!
I used to live off Sun Valley Pkwy(Tartesso) and saw storms like that come across the north end of Buckeye near Festival all the time during monsoon, this time of year is rare though!! There are some great spots along West Bell rd(SVP) to watch from.
That's the one thing I really miss about living there. Absolutely loved the storms. We hardly get any where I am now. Really sucks.
Watching it completely dissipate so fast was so disappointing last night. Maybe we will cross paths someday. Super glad you were able to get a chase in! You rock🤘🤘 keep up the amazing work!
Looking forward to the next DVD mate 👍
Very cool video to enjoy watching while its raining here today in SE Wisconsin. Have a wonderful upcoming weekend Mike.(Steve)
Great shots for a chase at the last second!
There's still that firey hunt in you Mike always love watching you and your excitement on the chase .
Still got it haha, thank you Cody!
Saw those same pink outer highlights from my home in Maricopa. They were beautiful over the Estrellas. Thanks for providing great footage of the cell.
I work for HonorHealth and the office I work out of is located out near 102 Ave and Happy Valley Parkway. I had finally left work around 5:45pm and holy canoli the lightning was incredible. But yeah getting chased by this and as I had mentioned, I had really no place to pull over to take photos. And I had a feeling it was bad because it looked like it was tornado warned. I really love storms like this. You still did a great job of capturing what you did, Mike.
Absolute masterpiece of nature there.
There was prolific hail on the west side of Surprise along Bell. We were driving west on the 303 a little later and got dumped on and a light show.
Tonight's storm was amazing!!
I spotted it when it was near peak rotation way out past Surprise towards Wickenburg around 450p/455p. I couldn't see much of the complete structure of the thing because I was driving and because of where I was but I saw very clear and prominent wall cloud lowered with a tail cloud and some wisps of scud as well. I immediately clocked it and got very excited and was sure to watch it go by. Beautiful beautiful beautiful storm.
So very cool, that's a great job being under it and spotting that!
amazing!
What a "foolish" chase. I LOVE it! 🙂 Great stuff!
G'day, Mr. Olbinski! I can't remember which channel I learnt this from, either yours or Pecos Hank's, but the phenomenon of the sky turning a greenish colour is something I know merely from watching tornado footage. I am currently in a church class on Revelation and the pastor teaching it was reading from Chapter 4 verse 3 where it says, "a rainbow like an emerald" went around the throne. He asked, "Before a storm, what colour is the sky?" I was able to answer "green", not being from the Midwest, but from watching videos on your and Pecos Hank's channels.
Sometimes it's these unplanned/last minute chases that does it!
Yes!!!
That was fun!
Perhaps this is a harbinger of an active Monsoon Season this year.
Anything would be better than last year. 31 straight days at or above 110° is horrific.
Miserable
The shot in which the cloud is divided between sunset and lightning is simply incredibly beautiful.
I tried to go into it to grab some shots, but it was already over Surprise where I'm at. Because the hail started getting heavy as I headed west on Greenway towards the 303, I decided to bail and head back home. I've already dealt with hail damage on my car once already!
It was a constant rumble of thunder coming from this storm.
I left work driving under this yesterday. I really wanted to stop and take photos, but there was no place for me pull over.
Sometimes you just gotta pull over anywhere, but I hear you! Very tough in the city, I saw the path of the storm and knew where this field was and headed for it hoping it would work. Luckily it did.
I'm coming to the US!! You guys are getting storms outside of storm season, and we arent getting storms during our storm season!! What's with that!! US here I come!! 😃
Yes, I don't know why you haven't yet brooooo, two spots open in early May still! :P
Most European comment I‘ve ever read XD and you‘re not even from there 😂
