I want to thank you for this very helpful video. My son gave me a Full-size Mag light over 5 years ago. I dropped it and it quit working i was pretty sure it just needed a new light bulb. I kept forgetting to go buy a new bulb...I had no clue a spare bulb was in the batt cap..LOL,,After sitting for over 5 years I just got it working again Thanks to you...
Thanks! This was helpful, as you went through all the steps, unlike another video I previously watched. I was just about to order a new bulb for my used Maglite. Had no idea they come with a spare! Evidently the previous owner didn't, either.
Wow!! I was about to throw out my old maglite because i thought I would never find a bulb for it. Untill I saw this video!!! I never knew that i had a light bulb laying in the bottom for 15 years 😅 Thanks 🙏
+Victor Olivera I know, right? Ppl are so weird. This video is helpful, I laughed out loud when he opened the end for the extra bulb, I had no idea it was there!
whoooaaa....bulb in the bottom.....didn't see that coming. whata ya know....mine too.....however, you forgot to wipe off the bulb or use gloves. thanks for the video all the same
I thought it was just my flashlight that was difficult to screw the bottom cap on! Somehow, that spring in the bottom was in backwards, and I thought the flashlight had quit working. Once I put it in right, after some struggling to get the threads lined up and the cap tightened, the flashlight was working again. Hated to think this expensive flashlight had quit working altogether.
@@stoopidhaters You're right, it is as complicated as solving how to draw a line with only a pencil and a piece of paper. Please don't take it seriously ;-)
Was unscrewing the lens ring. Didn't know the _entire front assembly_ came off as my maglite is very old and that section doesn't move on my flashlight anymore from being so old and crusty. Had to wrench it off and I wasn't even aware that it was a removable, threaded part
Crap! I replaced the batteries first thinking that was the problem. I followed every step in this video without a problem (great video) and it still doesn't work. Any ideas?
Thank you! Didn’t even know there was a spare bulb in the base. Still good after 25 years.

Thanks chief, you're the best. Had to learn how to do this in case the bulb in my Vari-Beam was out.

You can get upgraded LED bulbs too. Just put one in my trusty old Maglite after watching this video.
7 years later, still helping people!! Thanks
Yes
Thank you so much 8 years after buying mine I think it needs this replacement spare bulb.
Thank you :)
Fixed my ol' Mag rather than tossing it.
How is someone going to dislike this video??? He did a good job, I didn't even know there was a spare in the back. Thanks for the vid!

He touched the bulb w his fingers. Leaves oil on bulb which can create hot spots and destroy bulb.
@@journeyquest1 WRONG! That's just an Incandescant bulb. The Halogen bulbs are sensitive to skin oil.

Thank you I so appreciate your video. You taught me to be more independent that I know I can do it
Thank you. You're my teacher. 😍
WHAT?! I had no idea! Thank you

Is there an LED change out option now?
Yes, LED upgrades have been around for awhile.
thanks
Meine Nummer eins Maglite
Mine was quite difficult to unscrew, now the bulb housing is slightly out of alignment making a slightly uneven bean :(
who needs a how to for changing a light bulb?
u must have
It's not as easy as changing a regular household lightbulb.

i came as fast as i could. maybe something is wrong in your circuit.
Where to buy bulbs?
There are LED drop ins on Ebay or Amazon.
who has a maglite these days?
Me
I like them because they're super modular and not covered in useless techno-bumps and other spiky bits that tear up the seams of my clothing
BS. My Maglite bulb has two pins.
You got the Mag charger
I cant open the end.
@@thepurdychannel8866 Or he has the last updated Xenon Bulb called the MAGSTAR II. Then they switched to LED. MAGCHARGERS are pretty expensive.
not the same as an LED mag-lite
Touching the bulb with greasy fingers....Cringe.
This isn't a Halogen bulb...Cringe.
