- Dwarf White Isopod cultures are busting out at the seams! Here's a quick video showing how we seed a new culture.
Dwarf White Isopods are great for bio-active enclosures ( terrariums and vivariums ) as clean up crew and for feeding small reptiles.

I have a few of these in my millipede enclosure and some got into other enclosures too. I may have to start some little colonies with them.
You should!
Excellent vid as always Wally
Thank you so much.
wow there was a lot in that little container keep up the great work
They really take off when setup this way.
@@SupremeGecko that is why I would do micro geckos because these guys really take off
Nice colony
Thank you very much.
Wow that's a lot!
Thanks for watching!
Great video! Fun fact: Though dwarf whites were one of the first species I kept, this I never actually purchased a starter culture of this species. They showed up mixed in with the other cultures I purchased, and once I figured out what was happening, I separated them out. 🤣👍
:) I had one shipped in and only about 4 or 5 made it. Now, I have about a dozen cultures full.
Nice, always good to have a lot!
For the amount of little geckos I have, yes it is good.
@@SupremeGecko nice!
Great Video.
Thank you
im thinking of starting a new isopod enclosure and just not sure what to start with . Cant Believe how many Dwarfs there are in a scoopful that's insane they sure are breeders., thumbs up from me .👍
Once they get going and you feed them every other day, they take off. So important to me for a food source.
Nice! These guys are amazing workhorses in a bioactive viv.
They sure are.
Well done. I think you will have enough for your jobs. I really enjoy your video's. You guys are tops.
I have 10 colonies going right now and just started up 5 more :) Maybe I should just get a horse troff
Hey Wally! That’s insane! How long does it take a colony to get to this point?
Really depends on the starting amount but within about 6 months you should be at this point.
Wow! That's a lot of dwarfs. Sorry for asking this dumb question, but do you sell these or use these to feed some geckos with? Just seems like you could end up with an endless amount of isopods😉🤓👍
Thanks. I use them in bio-active enclosures (need to do more of this), sell them, and most importantly feed them to my very small geckos.
Not a silly question at all!!!!
@@SupremeGecko thnx for answering that. I figured so on the geckos
@@BLeesPets My Pleasure
I use dwarf whites in my bioactive rat enclosure. Too small for eating 😊
Interesting!
These are the work horse of a bio active enclosure along with springtails?
You know it. I would say DWs are a tad higher on my scale of importance but it's close!
I’m always scared if I lift a piece of cork that I’ll accidentally smush a few so I’m always careful looking at what I touch
I know! Me too!
@@SupremeGecko Long ago I Accidentally smooshed an individual it was very tragic
:( Now I’m paranoid when I do lift the cork
@@frankdughtank8327 I, unfortunately did this last week with one of my most expensive.... and I was already paranoid.
@@SupremeGecko That’s Very Unfortunate :( Sorry about that
@@frankdughtank8327 I try to be careful but it does happen.
They don't get much bigger, do they?
Nope- that's about it
How do you harvest them to feed them off?
Kind of a little trick but I let a section of the enclosure dry out a day or two, feed on the dry side a slice of something (pumpkin/cuc/zucc) then a half hour later, pick up the slice and brush off a few dozen for feeding.
BTW- love your account name :)
Supreme Gecko that is a really awesome idea! Thank you! I have been considering some micro geckos as a display tank and I just love geckos 😂 I have dwarf whites and they love to congregate on carrots. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that. I only use them to seed a viv right now.
Thank you for the account name complement. I have a short video on my 15 gallon p. Scaber tank. Hoping to get more regular content up soon.
@@fansiderc9302 I do the faceplant to the forehead ALL THE TIME. Glad I could share. I do this for mealworms also.
Supreme Gecko I just pick out the meal worms 😂 glad I am not alone on the slow-no moments.
Sure was alot in there lol they like to hide for sure!
There were. And they love to stir up the substrate.
