Trophy Truck on a Budget - RESULT

- I'm throwing together a few parts from different brands to create a Trophy Truck on a budget. The goal of this quick build is to see if with a limited amount of cost involved I can still achieve a more scale look than what I would have when using a regular shortcourse setup. The result will be a more detailed vehicle that will not hold up to bashing as well as a regular SCT would, but makes up for that by adding a lot in scale realism.
I start off by using the Killerbody interior that I purchased at Asiatees, a cool looking item for a decent price, on which I did a video in the past. It comes fully finished and the fit is quite universal, so you can instantly skip ahead to detail the rest of your truck
www.asiatees.co...
The chassis shown to test fit the interior is the ProLine Pro2, use the code "HemiStorm10" when you check out your order at the ProLine Racing website for an instant 10% discount on your purchase. Other items used are the 6085-00 light bar setup for crawlers and short course trucks, and some of the PoLine Racing accessries as well as a Ford Raptor SCT bodyshell.

The spare wheel carriers used in the setup as well as the Exo Terro or Yeti rear light bar can be found on the Axial Racing website:

The inspiration for the paint on this build and the overall look comes from Brenthel Industries:

Missed a word out of my last comment meant new intro was defo BETTER than the old one and I loved that one too
Chris, you're a true artist my friend and I admire you for that! I would like to see a build of a true trophy truck. I can't believe there isn't a kit out there.
Chris Pritchard Hi Chris, I think as the year progresses we will see more and more trailed suspension cars and trophy type of rigs being released. Scale realism, also in basher type of vehicles, seems to be catching on and companies are taking note of it.
Every time I paint a new shell I check out a couple of your videos for a little information and inspiration. Awesome work, thanks for sharing it.
Thank you for the inspiration my friend. I just sprayed my first clear Proline Short Course body and I must say that it looks awesome for it being my first time. Now I will mount the spare tire and it should look even better!
You always come up with a unique paint scheme and make it look easy to do. Great work as always! Love the videos, I learn something every time I watch them.
Hey hemistorm another cool paint job big thumbs up 👍
7:16 Yes it's better. Has that trophy truck with all the performance of independent suspension. Great work. Love what you did here.
awesome truck! Great video mate
Excellent!
I'd say of all your paint designs this has jumped into the top three of my favorite ones
Very understated, and yet very much grabs your attention , has the feel to me like a low budget racer who couldn't afford a professional painter or wrap for his truck went out in the garage and laid some paint on his own
Looking forward to,the next project :)
I just discovered your channel and you got a new sub! I love this truck, very inspiring, and I can't wait to watch more of your vids! Great work man!
Hey turned out rather nice buddy love that killer body interior. Just checked out part 1 to refresh my memory the new intro is defo than the old one and I loved that too. After watching many vids about full metal trophy truck builds nice to see a simple version without the need for metal working experience. A big thumbs up for another top video matey
paulmcnamara16 Glad you like it, Paul! Not everyone can weld or has the tools to, so keeping things a tad simpler was the way to go for me.
It needs to be simple for me buddy Ha Ha
Really nice paint on this one! Classy done!
this the 4th time i come across this video in 2 months
Love the logo with the spray can guy suits you really well good stuff
Awesome build, definitely going with some of the ideas on my blitz.
Hey Chris looks great my friend! I like the guy with a rattle can logo and I really like the look of the roll cage! Nice scale looks and great color choice!
EVERYDAY RC Thanks Chris! It's all about adding that personal touch.
i love the look overall, but especially the flat clear
Awesome job. Your detailing is fantastic
Great job as usual! You really make it seem effortless lol!
EXTREME SCALE PERFORMANCE RC Cheers Josh! It's actually really not that difficult, some planning and patience go a real long way.
Awesome video Chris keep up the great work!
This new intro looks good.
***** It was long overdue to change things out a bit!

LOOKING GREAT AS ALWAYS MAN

Nice work my friend.
HemiStorm RC - Custom RC builds, painting videos and more : Thought about getting into the 1:10 drift scene?
The drift crowd is huge these days, and it's really fun to look at builds where the builder has put a bit of effort into scale looks :)
Probably would hook some new subscribers too mate :)
GTTwincam I have a drift chassis sitting around, I just need to accumulate the parts to finish it up and then start building it. So it is coming, just haven't gotten around to it just yet. :)
Cool, looking forward to seeing your touch on drifters too.
For getting the max out of it I'd recommend a 0.08-0.05 second servo, really makes for responsive direction shifts with a correct set up chassis :)
a simple but very cool design!
Frank Kathoewer Thanks Frank, sometimes less is more. Brenthel did a good job mapping out the paint on the fullsize truck!
Very nice look
Great job man!!
Awesome rig dude! I'd love to see that thing on the track. Will we see any running videos?
King Scott You definitely will, snow is still coming and going here, so I'm waiting for the weather to stabilize a bit.
Cool looking forward to it!
Great job.
Thanks!
Good luck with your project, just keep the camera recording ;)
Have a great week
ABMNS PRODUCTION You too buddy, good to see you stop by!

NICE!
Nice looking sct.
Victor Pitones Thank you! It's nice to make something a bit different. :)
How long does a paint can last for you? I've had Tamiya cans only last 1-2 bodies but I think I'm putting on too many coats for just one color because I'm really OCD about having a full color that you can't see through.
Super0dp On average they last pretty long, all depending how much of a single color is in the paintscheme. Background colours and backing go quicker than others, a can of bright silver which I use for detailing can easily last five or eight shells.
Swwwweeeeeet !! I Love It. Look's Great,
andrew richey Glad you dig it, Andrew! Always happy to read your comments. :)
Could someone tell me where to get the tyre racks? Or do I have to make my own?
How much was it in total?
What would you charge to build me a custom truck
