We tried to answer to as many questions as possible, but I didn't want the video to be too long.
For the people who were asking questions about her story and how did she start playing the bass, I am posting a link to her video that tells her story.
This was really fun and we enjoyed doing it, so we'll do another one sometimes soon.

I met him and his daughter a few years ago at NAMM. Super nice guy. Very talented musician. It looks like his daughter is on her way also. Such a beautiful relationship. Music brings us all together. God Bless you 2.
I met them a couple weeks ago when I went to their studio with YOYOKA before heading over to another studio for the recording session of "The Ocean" (Led Zep). The two girls have similar parents, were brought up the same, and both have the freedom to do what they want (musically). Both dads are awesome, yet they had never met and live half way across the world from each other (Las Vegas / Japan). The girls became instant best friends and will probably be doing some collaborations together. YOYOKA is attempting to move to Las Vegas within the next year.
Some people have talent… but you, Ellen, have a gift! Thank you for sharing it with the rest of the world!

Ellen is so much fun to watch - she plays with so much joy! I have to give Dad credit, here, too. It's obvious how supportive Hovak is, and how he works to keep this a fun, positive, and creative outlet for Ellen, without forcing anything. I can tell she has great parents!

She articulates herself very well and is very well aware of everything. I think I understand the comment from the adults when they say would you be my daughter because as mothers and fathers we are certainly touched by her talent and what a unique child she is. This does speak volumes about the training that she gets from her parents.
I would be so proud and chuffed to have a daughter like her. Even if she could was not an expert bass player. Good for you Ellen.

A young man goes to a music teacher, to learn bass. The first week, the teacher teaches him the absolutely most important note for the bassist, the root note. He pays close attention, studies hard and practices everyday.
The next week he teaches him the second, absolutely most important note for a bassist, the fifth.
The third week, the young man doesn't turn up for his lesson, so the teacher phones him. "Why didn't you come for your lesson this week?"
"Can't. Too busy gigging!"
It looks like you often use nylon wound strings. Is there a reason for that?
I am 56 years old and I started learning bass 2 months ago. I love your videos. They remind me that, even when practicing, music should be fun.

Nice interview. Ellen's CZcams of Tom Sawyer is wonderful. It is one of my favorite bass lines in rock 'n' roll, and she does an excellent job with it. Best wishes to Ellen as she continues in music.

Back to you, Dad: PLEASE expose Ellen to The Funk Brothers, the late great James Jamerson in particular! I see her as becoming as great a bassist as him! This assignment, should you choose to accept it, is your homework from your "Auntie" SweetBlaq.
