  • Check out this satirical short film called "My Dear Gnome" that brings a fresh take to sophisticated yet simple comedy, and encompases all the charm and wit of productions that director duo Emmanuelle & Julien are known for! For more information, please see the details and links below:
Produced through Hornet and Fieldtrip partners ChezEddy
About the work: The camera opens to a picturesque French garden where the two heros - a mischievous lawn deer and an optimistic garden gnome - are settling down for a game of checkers.
“We created an entire universe for this film. Even the flamingo (Eugene) in the background has a story,” commented Emmanuelle. “Ultimately, we decided to keep it very simple with minimal animation and just tell the funny story of two friends who are trying to play a board game together.”
The humorous tale strikes the right balance of realistic but still cartoonish CG, with a slightly mature point of view that remains elegant enough for an older audience. Detailed set design, ambient lighting and a saturated, springtime palette add to the playful nature throughout the film and augment the spirit of the characters.

Hahaha very funny. I love the Gnome's face, and that he only could move his eyes. It's very likeable.

So People with disabilities need to be assaulted by short tempered fawns?! Just trying to find the "Moral of the Story".

Crazed Carebear It was just an animation made for fun. I'm sure not every single animation short has a moral to the story. I found this hilarious and enjoyed the animators work. And the "moral" you found was a bit... much. (not trying to be rude sorry) But here's what I think the moral might possibly be if you're really looking for one.
      "Sometimes we see things differently."
The fawn didn't know that the gnome could barely move, and the gnome possibly didn't know how to play or didn't want to play but couldn't say so because his mouth was shut which is why he stomped on the board.
She thought he was being rude and he thought either he was just having fun or he didn't want to play (whichever idk)

KCUndercover / Cookie Using 3D to tell a "Story" is no different than any other media. To Tell a Story without words one should be very clear as to the Story Plot. If this has no other Plot than to be a visual experience, it was badly done. Could have just had them both jumping around for no other reason than to show off the Authors 3D and Animation abilities. Unfortunately, There is a Story to this piece and it sucks. But you can think of it anyway you like, it's all subjective as you pointed out. But if I were grading this in a School setting I would have had the Authors rethink the Story. Again just my Opinion.
