    I bought four cuttings from you about 18 months ago and they have really grown. I topped them at around 6 feet and they are huge. Budding out now and looking forward to a good season with a great assortment of dragon fruit.

    What variety would you say is best for first time dragon fruit growers?
    Also which variety is the fastest producer?
    Also which one would do best in California climate?

    • @Spicyexotics
      @Spicyexotics  Před 4 lety

      White flesh varieties are the best for first-timers. Most will produce within two years (with our cuttings). We grow in Louisiana so we are not the be person to answer your California question.

    Thank you Ty, for all the great content. It's been a really useful tool for learning more!
    I'd love a video or list of all the DFs that are self pollinated.
    What would be handy as well is some kind of chart that has all the data per plant, like ease of growing, hardiness, fast/slow growth, etc...

      Yellowing can be from a lack of magnesium or iron..rust spots can be prevented using a copper spray and adding micronutrients the dirt

    • @Spicyexotics
      @Spicyexotics  Před 5 lety

      @@Kibatsume1 We avoid using any chemicals or sprays on our plants. Soil is key, and when you have the right stuff problems will disappear. You just need to be patient.

    Hey nice work. How far apart are the drums spacing from post to post?

    • @Spicyexotics
      @Spicyexotics  Před 5 lety +1

      I have not measured. I have 9 frame supports and I have a container in between each support. Each frame is 26 feet long. That's about 1 every 2.88 feet.

    Hi, what kind of cover you use for your green house? How thick? I found some net fabric for protecting plants from insects and birds, will those work?

      We use a kit, the cover is part of the kit.
      What are your you trying to use the cover for?

    Do you have any dragon fruit that opens the same time as the Halley's Comet??? Originally I was told it was self-fertile that's turning out not to be the case.. the only fruit I got off it was when I was able to save pollen from my David Bowie ... However the David Bowie opens a bit later making me miss the first flowering of the comet.. I would really like my third one to be something that can be pollinated with comet... if not at the very least something that is 100% self fertile

    • @Spicyexotics
      @Spicyexotics  Před 5 lety

      First, Halley's Comet has set fruit on it's own for us. We would not reccomend it for a single variety to set fruit as it may set 1 of 5 times. The variety we would reccomend as a compliment is Red Jiana.

      @@Spicyexotics thanks for the suggestion, I will be ordering one soon... sorry I should have specified i did not get my Comet from you... I bought my comet local, ordinarily I try to support the local businesses,, however it seems to bite me when it comes to dragon fruit ,I bought the David Bowie from a different nursery and it was labeled as an American Beauty, I found out it was mislabeled after it fruited 9 months after planting ,white flesh ,the company they ordered from only sell two varieties, at least I know what it is...

      We have several different varieties now growing. Most are not for sale (yet) or sold out. When they are available they typically sell out within 3 days.
