    Thank you for this video! I'm training to get my CDL A but I have no mechanical background, so it helps me a lot to see what the part is called, what it looks like, AND where it is. This is a nice study tool.

    Omg this is sooooo helpful!! I'm currently in trucking school, but it's on the weekends and I don't have access to a truck until then. With me being a visual learner, this video is beyond helpful because it'll help me to visualize things during the week

      Not only do you have to name all the parts, but you need to explain what you are looking for, and how to check them. This video doesn’t cover that though, only the names.

    kinda wish there was an order to the parts. Like front to back top to bottom, and include more of the engine compartment. Altogether pretty helpful.

    • @rodneybaumer639
      @rodneybaumer639  Před 4 lety

      The order is based on how the test is run in Oregon and Washington. It makes for a smooth transition as you walk around with the tester. I only included the parts required for the pre-trip test. I do agree though ... truck drivers should know much more than what is covered in this video.

  • @MetallicaKing48
    @MetallicaKing48 Před 5 lety +2

    This is not enough to actually teach anyone about pre-trip. You have to explain the function of the components and you also have to acknowledge what defects that you are looking for. With those left out, that’s almost 2/3 of the pre-trip left out. If you were to tell an examiner just the names of each part, he or she would look at you confused and just nod his/ her head as if to say go on. You would end up failing the the pre-trip otherwise. Of course, there are a lot of shortcuts to help you remember many defects by fault. Such as, ABCs. In which that helps you remember abrasion, bulges, cuts. And then you have PMS, which is acronym for properly mounted and secured. But without mentioning the components function and what drives it or what connects to it, you still a risk failing the pre-trip.

    • @rodneybaumer639
      @rodneybaumer639  Před 5 lety +6

      Wilton King , you are correct. This Parts Identification video does not teach what you need to know to pass the pre-trip inspection. Not even close. However, it has taught quite a few people the English names for the parts that should be inspected. I debated about making a full inspection video, but each state - and even each tester - has their own specific inspection keywords that they look for. Besides, if the video taught everything you needed to know, there would be no reason to hire me ;-)
