European Jazz Companions is a program for a European Orchestra of young professionals. 8 countries are represented in the big band. The musical direction and original idea is from the French conductor Pierre Bertrand (rewarded by “Victoires du Jazz” in 2005 and 2017).
The program involves inside the same big band great european musicians, the coaches, specialists in big bands, and 17 young musicians. The aim is that experienced musicians share their skills, their craft’s knowledge, with young professionals ending their studies in European Music Schools and Universities. Thus the program offers a first big band job to young professionals, in professional conditions. They are involved from start to finish in a musical creation, coached by great professionals.
