Join me for 10 hours in Air Canada's Lie-Flat Signature Class Pods!
Welcome onboard the inaugural Winter 2023 service of Air Canada's nonstop Toronto to Honolulu service, their longest flight within North America (EDIT: I have been informed that Hawaii is in fact not in North America (geographically), rather Oceania)! On this trip we'll explore the Air Canada Transborder Maple Leaf Lounge at Pearson Airport and check out the full experience in Air Canada's Signature Class pods on their Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, from the food to the seat and everything in-between.
Will it be smooth sailing for the first trip of the season or a collection of teething problems? Stay tuned to find out!

May be an unpopular opinion, but I think once a flight is passing the 6+ hour mark there should be a legal requirement to serve a meal. Even if it meant upping the ticket prices.
Pack a snack bro
Absolutely agree - and guess how much that meal costs the airline? Peanuts.
I can't believe they treat a 10 hr flight like any other transborder/domestic and don't give economy a meal service. Yikes! Thanks for the wonderful review. And like others mentioned your voice is so relaxing, adds to the unbiased report lol
Thanks for watching!
Absolutely agree! That's torture and was never the case in the past. 10 hrs without meal service is cattle class.
The restrictions Air Canada places on what is served within North America make sense but there should also be some time-based ones too so people flying YYZ-HNL or YVR-YHZ, for example, in economy, are served a meal, and Signature are given the full treatment
Fake news: they do offer both a meal and a snack in economy on this flight.
@nicweber01 Looking at the menu myself now, I see that as well. I believe that’s new, because a year ago I don’t think that was case. Good to see though!
Can't wait to see this review!
Great video, thank you 😊 I really enjoyed watching this
Thank you!
Wow, I didn’t know AC operates non stop flight from yyz-hnl. Few years ago we had to layover at SFO and connect with United.
Echo the comment about your very nice tone of voice and cadence. At 2:40am pleasantly soporific. I snagged a great o/w fare in Feb on this route - looking forward to it. AC Sig class is what I call 'adequate' in terms of amenities and food. Nothing to write home about. But having a lie flat seat on a long flight is worth it's weight every time.
dang, there is direct flight yyz->honolulu a yr ago? Nothing now.
Nice trip report 👌
Thanks!
The IFE issue would not bother me at all because once i've eaten i like to recline my seat to a comfy position and sleep 😃 lol......nice upload anyways 👍:)
Great video Will! You do great detail. I just flew to HNL from YYZ on January 27th on C-FSBV in seat 7K as well! Was my 999th Air Canada flight. Have the departure vid on the way. Returned to YYZ February 10th on C-FGFZ for my 1000th. Too bad you do not get the better lounge in Toronto with this Signature flight, and you also do not get an amenity kit. Air Canada did both last year on this route. PS. C-FRTW took me to Vienna last September. Cool to see others on same aircraft.
Very nice! 1000 flights with AC is quite impressive, working my way there (slowly…)
Imagine if you had to divert over a broken IFE screen because the passengers want to watch movies lmao!
Thankfully we avoided that! Thanks for watching!
Lucky! Westcoast is stuck with 737Max8 service to/from Hawaii.
I'd take one of the old Canadien 767 than a 737 for something more than 3/4 hours - though AC 737 are more comfortable than WJ
The background voice so funny 😂, I love it
Do you get drinks included with the tickets ? Or you have to pay for that also ?
In economy class drinks would be included (non-alcoholic)
This should be a regular flight everytime we go to Hawaii I hate changing planes and terminals usually and then going back through security
Are you a broadcast journalist or a university professor? I am very impressed with the tone of your voice. There is another CZcamsr with an equally impressive voice who does travel videos of Florida. Very nice video, I have 600,000Aeroplan miles, I wonder if that would be enough for that nonstop flight in Signature Class?
I'm not actually, but I appreciate your kind words! 600,000 Aeroplan Miles will definitely get you a flight in Signature Class, this flight typically costs under 100,000 one way
Air Canada business class looks outdated and basic. I would love to take my daughter to Hawaii. I've been to Oahu twice and Maui three times. I want her to experience what I did as I was growing up.
Anybody here flown this route in economy? Were you served a meal? I'm considering bringing this issue to Air Canada directly via email.
The food they serve is not up to par with business class found in other airlines. Air Canada is a great disappointment anytime I fly with them. Their airfares are also sky high for what you get in return.
The lounge at breakfast time was an insult. Cold hard boiled eggs, toast, sad muffins, had I paid, In would have looked first and not paid.
Why does everything Canadian make me think USA weak sauce? For a business class service that entire thing looked absolutely atrocious! From the meal options, to the food quality, to the dodgy ife. It seems like air canada is trying to be a grown up airline, but fails at every hurdle.
Tbh, food on AC business class is miles ahead of the big 3 US airlines, with proper 3 course meal plus cheese plate, cognac/Porte wine service, and real bedding even for domestic flights. AC also serves a hot meal for all business class products even short haul 50 min flights, which is a lot more than one can say about United or AA (no hot meal under 2 hours).
Everything American seems cheap and half assed.
