You got a sponsor! Congrats! Keep your style, cadence and everything else, your channel will continue to grow organically.
Thanks for showing us this light, I have got one now and it seems to work very well. You are a legend.
Just to say thank you for what you are bringing to your channel. Always look forward to seeing what you get up to next.
Thank you for introducing me to macro video. I never gave it a thought until now. I really like your videos my friend. 😊
Keep this up Alexis and I can see you being a "front runner" in the macro field on u-tube a very informative video. 👌
Fanstastic video once again!
Great video. Thank you! I normally shoot macro stills and you have inspired me to try some macro video. That light looks cool - I think I will buy one.
Outstanding work.
Great production quality, love the videos, keep it up!
Great video! It's quite tough using manual and video with these lenses. Getting good light to crank the f helps a lot! though it's tough with some animals. It's practice practice practice!
Excellent video friend!
3:40 ... it's like staring at the Sun. Powerful little thing
Great stuff Alexis. I love your methodical, scientific approach to learning new techniques and skills, very professional, great results already. 😊

Hey This is great. Dude is like 12 years old! Gonna be a BEAST photog when hes at the age most youtube photogs are at now. I'm also feeling inspired to do some macro on film now!
A wedge-shaped beetle! I too was very surprised when I saw some of these.
Great video! Bienvenue à Montréal.
If you want to free up your hand, I'd recommend a magic arm with a rod mount. Screw mounts come loose too easily.
I've been looking into one of those for photography to hold subjects in a clamp, so I'll keep it in mind for video as well.
very good
Great video, your production values get better all the time! Nice music and calm vibe.
Brilliant video and thanks for the shout out!
Great vid :) subscribed
Very well done. I really look forward to your videos
can you try to shoot, render, and upload a 60fps video? Might have to shoot 120fps because the 1/2 speed looks nice
Enjoyable vid. Getting close to 10k subs, nice. Side by side split screen effective. What were the ants doing earlier in the vid - those white bundles?
Would not be surprised to see e-magazine Shutterbug feature this vid (addition to prior how-to one).
Thank you! The ants were carrying their pupae away to a safer spot.
Great vid
Loved this video but I hate the morphing transition 😂 ( it's just my opinion). Anyway, beautiful job, keep going!
As always a great video! Thank you so much :)
You can use your focus light on your flash diffuser to light for macro video also.
Very nice
Love your channel. Your images are outstanding.
Question - when shooting at 60 fps, what shutter speed were you using? I know typically filmmakers would shoot 60fps at 1/120, but I’m curious if you need an even faster ss because of the light?
Also, what aperture were you at? Do you change it much to compensate for lighting or to adjust your depth of field?
Thanks for the wonderful videos!
Thank you! I shot at 1/120 the whole time and mostly had my aperture at f/8. To compensate for lighting I used the brightness on the LED panel, and for a few shots where that wasn't bright enough I had to raise my iso a bit.
Great video as always. I'm just wondering would a diffused head torch work? It would free up your hand. 🙂
I've never tried that, I imagine it might not quite be enough light since a headlamp spreads out the light quite wide so only a small amount would hit a diffusion panel close to the subject, but in a pinch I'm sure it could work.
@@naturefold Yes, I'm sure you're right. I get these crazy ideas from time to time. It is a good feeling when they do work. 🙂
So... what ISO and aperture settings do you like to use for video?
Other than your gorgeous photography skills, what methods do you use to identify your subjects?
I mostly use iNaturalist, but for certain groups where I know good photo identification keys I will use those in addition.
@@naturefold thanks!!! Beautiful work, my man, beautiful work. Thank you for sharing
What's the best time of the year for macro photography in your opinion?
Heya! Have you thought about those ringlights that go around your lens at the tip of it? Any experience with those?
Those are good if you just need very even lighting for documentation images, but they give very flat lighting and distracting reflections, so I would never use one for my macro work.
I've never used a diffuser for doing macro . I felt it was a waste of money . I have the 100mm x2 F2.8 Laowa model .. I used with my 90D until i bought a 5DSR ..overall am happy with the images i get . I haven't been to my usual hauunt this year as i now spend most of my time my time on the coast as it offers a wide spectrum of targets ..
Will you take part at Wilder photo award 2024, category macro?
I hadn't heard of that competition, I'll look into it!
