Something I found that helps explain the why and how is using BUT and THEREFORE between story beats. For example, myself and 3 other designers were prototyping a habit tracker BUT because we had different libraries of components it's easy for the design to look inconsistent. THEREFORE we leveraged the Google material 3 design system on figma. It's easy to navigate and restyle.
What an amazing way to explain this! I'm pinning this comment đ
@@hellostephaniem wow thanks! I actually leveraged this idea from the South Park creators. There's a short video on CZcams where they discuss storytelling
Your content is insanely helpful, I wish more people knew about your channel, I've watched hundreds of videos about ux designers and only a handful of them are as direct, thorough and transparent as you are, which is the #1 thing for people trying to break into the tech industry. Great job Stephanie (:
This is probably one of the best comments I've ever received. Thank you much đ„č
Thank youuuuu Stephanie! I'm so glad I found you today! đ
So glad!
Iâm so grateful that you took the time to talk about portfolio mistakes. Iâd love to see a part 2.
Do you have any recommendations or examples of great portfolio examples for inspiration? I find myself struggling to find strong, straightforward portfolio examples that arenât really niched down. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you againâ€
Thank you, that is a great suggestion esp. for a part 2! *write this down in notes*
Hi, do you do any mentoring or portfolio reviews?
Not yet!
I think mistake #2 is quite underestimated
Iâve seen sooo many portfolios where lack of narrative aka any glimpse into the designerâs process and reasoning is overcompensated by the amount of frames and having a scrollable prototype
I mean yes UI and prototyping skills are also important but theyâre also not THAT difficult to learn or imitate so unless itâs some really impressive 3D element or animation visuals alone wonât have the impact people think it would đ€·đŒââïž
Right! It so easy to gloss over it and get to the pretty visuals. You make such a GOOD point about prototyping not being that hard to learn; the storytelling and narrative matter so much more
Hey I wanted to ask do you remember all the terms they taught you? Iâm learning it but Iâm struggling trying to remember everythingâŠ
Hey! Definitely not all the terms, so I make sure I'm researching terms that I've forgotten...lol luckily there are no quizzes in your real job!
Hey I think I know you from Charlotte, NC is it true or am I wrong? South Meck.
Never been to NC, thanks!
