I have listened to this podcast at least 4 times and every time it feels like I’m listening for the 1st time. So much to learn.

She is elated to talk about Mahābhāratam, the glow in her face while talking about the Itihāsa says all about her.
I think Ami ji is the one who understood the Krishna Tatva completely and respects it to the core. While other religious organisations focus on only on preaching the peace part. It's absolutely essential to learn the Shatrubodh, Dharmabodh and all the essentials of life via Mahābhāratam.

Somehow we from a young age are taught to be good. Nothing wrong in that but not fighting for what is correct is also wrong. The Christian teachings of when you are slapped on one side show your other cheek is wrong. If you are hit, you should take action. Mahabharata and Ramayana are both fights for dharma..

I am stumped by the level of knowledge Amy Mam has Awsome in this 2 hours pod cast I time travelled in year 1987-88, when i used to watch Mahabharata in Doordarshan.....I learned Mahabharta from there and now i have gained more from this video.

I can't believe what my Hindi teacher taught me about Karna was wrong. Karna was a person who could inspire anyone to be generous and fight selflessly for a friend if at the cost of sacrificing his own life. But after listening to her logic I have changed my mind about Karna it is useless to be brave, generous if you are fighting for evil forces.

Arjuna was unanimously declared as the best warrior of his time. Also, it is known that he wanted to lay down his weapons against those who have wronged him knowing he could defeat those in front of him thus giving us the Srimad Bhagawad Gita. Imagine the compassion and empathy he must have and the absolute lack of ego to be willing to surrender a war purely because he could foresee the outcome and the toll.
It is easy to accept a grey character as a more relatable person but we must remember that the Paramatma chose Arjun as his instrument and sided with him. Questioning Krishna’s choice is very arrogant and ignorant of us, no?

Pandavs put themselves at stake before Draupadi.
Draupadi was put on stake by Yuddhisthir(who had already lost himself to Duryodhan) on insistence of Shakuni.
He was a Dasa already, he had no options but to follow the master's command.
Secondly, putting Draupadi at stake ultimately helped them, and freed all from slavery.
Had Draupadi not asked for boons, Pandavs & Draupadi had remained Dasa for lifelong.
Yuddhisthir was playing the game only for his respect for Dhritrashtra.
Yuddhisthir himself had criticised gambling multiple times.
Draupadi herself said that Yuddhisthir was poor in Dyut.

The whole podcast was worth listening. Although i want to convey this to the Team of this channel that for a breif 10 seconds or so the podcast was freezed from 1:50:50 to 1:51:04 . I restarted the video multiple times to check if it's issue at my end but the video kept freezing at mentioned interval. So Team please do check .

Ami Ganatra inspired me to read Valmiki Ramayana & can't thank her enough. I could never imagine that reading Valmiki Ramayan would be like reading an English novel. The society was so free & so different from what we perceive it to be, I miss being not born during Treta yug 😁😁, Kaliyug sucks. Ram's & Sita's characters are completely different from what we are always told. Just started reading BORI Mahabharata few days back. 🙏🙏🙏🙏Ami ji & Sanjay ji.

What exact text you read? In English or some Indian language? Im only comfortable with English in reading writing and this is the one thing that has stopped me from reading Mahabharat, Ramayan so far.

After watching Mahabharat always thought Karna was very whiny person. He had loving parents . education from one of biggest teachers and finally good achievement as to become king. Everyone faces Obstacles and enemies in life but he kept keeping silly grudges throughout his life. Never had capacity to let go things even when he got more than what he wanted.
Also wondered why people call him good when he was also among Duryodhan when they sexually harassed Draupadi. A good person would have tried to stop his friend from doing such a crime. But he encouraged.
Now we know serial makers have presented a distorted version.

He was made to give up the greatest defense (Kavach & Kundal) in exchange for the greatest offense (Vasavi Shakti). If Karna had retained the armor he had at birth, not even Barbarika’s arrows could have killed him.
Karna overcame all odds to defeat everyone who ever stood in his path. He soundly defeated the monstrous Bhima, destroyed Ghatotkacha, and *when he finally picked up his true bow Vijaya, not even Arjuna with Lord Krishna’s help was a match for him.*
I rate Karna over Arjuna for four reasons:
1. Karna had lost to others before, *BUT NEVER WITH VIJAYA IN HIS HAND.* This bloodthirsty weapon is the bow that wiped out the Kshatriyas from the face of the earth, *21 times.*
2. *Arjuna had superior archery skill, no doubt.* But Karna had a stronger body. He was more virtuous. He was more driven. And he wielded a celestial weapon every bit as good as Arjuna’s Gandiva. All of these facts were cited by Krishna in order to motivate Arjuna to slay Karna no matter what.
3. *Karna could compete with all five pandavas on their defining qualities* - Yudhishthira’s virtue, Bhima’s strength, Arjuna’s archery, Nakula’s beauty, and Sahadeva’s knowledge.
4. Karna vs Arjuna was an unfair fight from the very beginning - they were evenly matched in terms of weapons & chariots, but Arjuna had Krishna at his side, whereas Karna’s chariot was driven by Shalya, who constantly discouraged him. Even so, *they fought for nearly an entire day with no victor,* until Karna’s chariot was trapped by the earth.
Ultimately, he got done in due to his misfortune, nothing more. Destiny went out of its way to deal him the worst hand.
He was abandoned by his mother.
Cursed by his guru.
Hated by his brothers.
Rejected by other kings (all of whom were lesser men).
Berated by his own charioteer.
Deceived by the king of the gods.
*And scourged by the very earth itself.*
*All he ever had in life was his one good friend Duryodhana.*
But Duriyadhan made friendship with Karna only for his benefits, throne and interest...
What is your source ? When you see the critical edition you see no mention of curses. He had his qualities when but when put to scales his bad outweighs his good.

He can do lot better for his side but he always looked up to compare himself with Arjuna.
Now there are the sides, where he went on wrong path.
He was abandoned by his mother but he has the power of Surya and care of his parents who adopted him. So he was never orphan.
He was cursed by his Guru because he lied to him. He can ask him to be brahmin and get knowledge, but he lied for the knowledge.
He was rejected by other kings not because of cast of something. At that time, no king can be your colleague if you are not a king or prince.
He was berated by his own charioteer because he chose wrong path to deal with Arjun. He was on the path of Adharma.
He was deceived by the Indra because it was fixed in his destiny. Even Kakbhushundi once said that in a parallel mahabhrat, karna fought from the Arjun side where Lord Krishna send Indra to give more powers to Karna. It could happened only if Karna was on right path.
ANd scourged by the earth because of curse.
(I agree he has ability to defeat many of pandavas, but what is the benefit of your power if your character, personality & doings are completely on the wrong way)
When yudhisthir knows about Karna (his elder brother), he curesd his mother because he felt that he killed his own brother. He told Kunti, if you have told us before, we can change the things. But what Karna did, after knowing that Pandavs are his younger brothers. He was still ready to kill Arjun. Just because of the oath he made to his friend Duryodhana. While the wrong oath, is always brings you in Dharma Sankat (As Krishna said it Geeta).
Karna misbehaved and said so many vulgure words to Draupdi. He can stop his friends while pandavas were ready to take only 5 villages, But he never stopped Duryodhana and even made him more aggressive. He was not a true friend. He was always behind Arjuna. No matter what he has to done.

Bhishma was the greatest krishna devotee. As a great warrior he challenged krishna and krishna had to break his promise he used his weapon ( Sudarshan Chakra ) Ultimately bhisham won as a great devotee. Krishna definitely wanted to prove that his devotee will win.
Krishna Did not break his promise, He Lifted the Wheel of Rath, not Sudarshana Chakra
There is no such pledge made by Bheeshma in the Mahabharat . Bhagavan Himself was angry at Arjun's leniency on the 4th and 9th days of the battle ,and invoke Sudarshana chakra ,not a wheel .

Literally I always have a doubt that how can Peoples can justify Karna. How can people of India can take side of Karna rather than Pandava. But I was damn sure that Karna was evil and he always stand with evil. He was bad character but people of India never ready to digest this line. To fight war in support of evil, to support cheer haran but still people have soft corner for karna. Thanks mam, thanks a lot for such a high level of explanation. It help me understand our history in much better manner, I get too much knowledge and clear explanation about our history. My knowledge regard mahabharat and their character get too much rise & whatever I've doubt regard mahabharat get clear for forever. Idk why but I never liked karna.....instead of self development he always was more interested in putting Arjun down.....
Karna and Arjun are celestial enemy. Karna who is born from brham humiliation and anger and Arjun is ansh of Vishnu to kill Karna but both are equal and it is evident that when someone not choose to loose this fight this fight not going to end. As karna is a symbol of negative energy he must loose but their is a twist he is born from bhrama so by default he is very Nobel and wise and he always choose dharm his memory is also not easily erasable. Here comes his humiliation ,anger and series of curse. And all other is known by everyone. If u read Sanskrit Mahabharat than u know he asked with Krishna that why my toung didn't obey my mind and heart. And a point he also wants to accept Krishna offer to stop the war but when bhisma say he can't wait more to achieve ultimate goal karna also determine to faught this war and achieve his ultimate goal.

@@astroboy1102 Don't take abhimanyu as a child. Karna sons are also fought in this war and got killed. Only less than 14 years age is considered as a child and not eligible for war. Abhimanyu who is pretending as Arjun on that day is like other Maharathi who excellently completed his duties. Please read Mahabharat without emotions. If you blame Karna for abhimanyu death than Sri Krishna as their MaMa who knows his death is more to be blamed. Abhimanyu is one of the maharathi and every Maharathi have a privious life story in Mahabharat.

@@astroboy1102Even Lord Krishna didn't follow rule of war leaves Kauravas and Pandavas. First major violation comes from Arjun and after that violation happens on daily basis in 18 day war. Pls don't consider abhimanyu as a child he faught with bravery and set an example of bravery also overshadowed all other Maharathi. When u are in war fighting is only Dharma no matter u r right or wrong. Karna follow his Dharma and that is to kill abhimanyu and save the prestige of Duryodhana on that day. Try to see Mahabharat as learning process of Gita because if u want to blame someone for some karma then u must read his version of story. Like i hate shakuni most because this man currupt duryodhana and Karna and one of main mind behind all cunning plot but when i read his version of story I can't stop tears in my eyes and able to see Mahabharat without emotions as it happens. Every incident in Mahabharat have its own story. So why i disagree with this woman who blame Karna for war. Karna do lot of sin and I can't considered him as hero but when Lord Krishna itself say that he is great soul that i only say he is one of the greatest soul.

Our family was glued to a TV to watch a Great Mahabharat and Ramayan Serial every weekend back then.
Such a wonderful EPIC, the complete story is full of learning and common sense. Stating keeping that in house will create a situation like Mahabharat is the most non-sensical talk. The person who doesn't understand or doesnt want you to learn is the only person who can state this.
