I’ve seen Johnson Controls rebadge a lot of York units where I’m at. I’ve never understood why these guys don’t take the trash and old parts off the roof and put them in the dumpster out back or just haul it away. A company I worked for in the past took on a new client and we spent two days and six truck loads of hauling old parts and trash off the roof from the previous company that had been servicing their hvacr equipment for years.

Several years ago on that one ghetto rooftop (pre drone days) I did a repair on an AC for a guy I knew and the strip he was in had several abandoned compressors on the roof and a unit.
I tossed them off and took them to the recycle for about $100
That is the video I did with me having my friend kick the compressors off of the roof and only some milk crates below to dampen the fall! 😄
This video. Oh wow. That was 12 years ago no!

5:40 the ge, I wonder if the one has the wrong lower RPM motor, I think you mentioned that in another video

I think that one was just rotating backwards from the air from the other fan. It didn't seem to change as I moved around at various angles as the quickly moving fans do as they counter act with the frame rate of the recording.
But anyway, yeah those old ones were like 1600 RPM if I recall. I remember needing to replace the fan blade if the OEM motor was not in stock.

Do you know of a secret why units on commercial buildings are older that residential house units in general. Is it because the building owners never cave in and buy a new unit and keep repairing the old ones? Are there any companies in the valley that would be willing to solder a hole in a residential 30 year old r22 unit or am I screwed if the coil were to start leaking?

Budgets most likely. If a property manager spends $4k to fix a 20 yr old unit instead of $10k to replace, he still just looks at what he spent or did not spend in that budget period. Even though it can be to the point of throwing good money at junk units. Home owners have a different outlook on it in that regard.
