I would consider setting up a shipping table in the first unit and at least get everything boxes and peanuts/bubble wrapped while you are there. If you had shipping labels already printed you could basically process everything while you are there and then just drop off at usps or ups whatever you use. Great set up!!!
yes shipping labels are easy to print now so i would have everything shipped in the unit then drop off on the way home
Wow I love the set up and in addition to a shipping table I suggest a vidmar type of cabinet for the products in the containers. Honestly, any small item can be in the vidmars, it can improve your organization system.
As a long term shipper, I can attest that shipping cost has gotten outrageous. I've done that job for over 20 years and you are so right about the cost. Great setup on your inventory!

I hail from Anderson, In! (Now in NC). I think one of the most important pieces is a sound SKU system...My lady and I had a difference in opinion in what was an easy system. But we came up with something that works for us both. All the best!

condense into one unit, get sturdier racks, use bins, stack to ceiling, statt using your cubic footage available

this is nice. If you ever watched any of my earlier videos....probably not because i am still small...but i do funko and designer toy videos. I start my channel out of my 10x10 storage locker here in Houston, it had no electricity so i had to bring a battery starter that had a plug to plug in my ring light. lol I upgraded to a 10x30, which was huge! So much space! But i recently bought a house and moved out of the locker because it was getting dangerous and too many stores of people getting their lockers robbed..

I think your system is well thought out. I do have a question, what is the cost of your units and how much inventory would it take to be sold to cover them? I have a larger 20 x 25 but it's mostly for past business and personal items, I currently operate out of a second property I own. I think this information would be helpful for your other viewers. You can save some money and get you a couple 40' Shipping Containers at your house, the Insulated ones are more money but for long term storage they are well worth it and very Secure too. Nice Inventory Set Up Becky:)

I’m sure one reason they don’t keep the inventory at their house anymore is security. Who would want to have that kind of temptation for burglars although I’m sure Clint would make anyone regret breaking into their house. 😂

Shipping in Canada is even worse! $15 is pretty much the starting point for a package. So crazy! Thanks for the great video!
I know, I have friends in Canada and in Ireland, and it costs a fortune to ship anything. I know a couple of years ago I sent a small metal sign that said, "Wolf Crossing" on it to Ireland. The item itself was less than $20, but the shipping (the cheapest one that had tracking) was $50. Needless to say, I don't ship items to them very often.
When you showed the coat, I said, "Hey! That's the same one I bought from you off Ebay a month or so ago!" Nice coat and warm

I live in the uk so shipping makes it not cable to purchase in the USA. Yet shipping from china is cheaper than internal post. Crazy times. The more time you invest in sorting the less time spent searching. Love it. Storage space is reasonable there.

All I have to do is pay the table off which doesn’t take long
And the totes are great but you could possibly organize them down more with smaller drawers on shelves.

I have a box system since I don't have that many shelves, that I take a picture of each item I have, then I label the box with a letter/number designation, and then folders in my desktop computer that also have those letter/number name, and stuff the photos of the items in the boxes, if I move something to another box then I move the photo to the new box's letter/number based folder too :)
Thanks for this video! Subscribed and will watch more. I would like to move to a storage unit, but I also work a job that has me gone for 12 hours during the day so on those days I could only go into my unit 6 am / 9pm which would make me nervous.
*W@$$UP!!* You guys might already know this but, make sure in your shipping settings are set to combine shipping and it just makes it a whole lot easier. So when you checking out it Ebay will ask you "Would you like Combined Shipping?"
You can't have the combined shipping setting turned on when hundreds of the items you have for sale are completely different sizes and weights. 9 times out of 10 the seller will lose their butt on the combined shipping when ebay undercharges the buyer. If EVERYTHING the seller has for sale is around the same size and weight then yes, you can have the listing set to combine shipping. We do combine shipping but we do it ourselves after the buyer pays and then we refund the shipping overage from what ebay charged them. That is the best way to do it for us and I have been doing that as a seller for over 20 years on ebay.
I help my Mother-in-law with her ebay and we often end up using the Calculated Shipping feature so we don't end up losing

A storage unit used in a manner that makes fiscal sense, great insight, more power to ye 👍
We have used storage lockers for stock in the past but it is such a money drain it needs to be avoided at all costs. A cheaper option in the long run is to buy 20 foot shipping containers and pay to store them on private land.

I use clear plastic totes numbered A1 A2 B1 etc. I like the clear so you can see what is inside.
I do shipping also and it's not unusual for me to have a 2 lb box cost $30, between shipping and insurance. I ship $750 to $1200 items sometimes, so the insurance costs more than the shipping. And sorry Clint, 2- 10 x 30 units doesn't add up to 20x60! It is 20x30, the depth does not change, just the width. Sorry, I just couldn't resist pointing that out!
I can’t get away from how many items u have to shift to cover 2 storage units,, couldn’t u purchase a house where it would be possible to do this, with the price of property today it would seem a better proposition 👍

That’s how I was until I moved and bought a house with a 1500 sq ft shop. I had 5 storage units. I was still only paying half the money in rent without an electric bill than what a smaller warehouse would cost monthly

Wouldn’t it have a lot of humidity in there? I’m too cautious on my inventory. I use a dehumidifier and air purifier to keep the clothing from mold and bacteria
You have a fantastic set up Clint,and Becky. I know all about shipping fees, but it's not to bad from the US to Canada. It just depends on how far the package has to travel. I switched to usps parcel because of shipping to the West coast
Microsoft Lists with a scanner. You can set it up so that when you scan the label if you've had it before it would remember it and you can just add a number to it. I use it for my computer inventory across 6 sites. But I would definitely get a scanner and scan the stuff into a system and you can just compute it to the sites you use to sell.

What is the rent like? A 10 x 10 unit where I live is $265 a month.
I have no intention of doing this kind of work, mostly cause I can't find product, but I imagined if I did a storage system it would start with a lettering system to denote shipping size/weight so that I would now from the number size and location. Something like FR-M-C106 Flat Rate-Med Size(Common Box Dimensions: 8 in x 8 in x 8 in, 12 in x 9 in x 6 in, 13 in x 11 in x 2 in) shelf C Item 106. Then of course mark my shelves for FR shelf A, B, C and then the item number. Keep in mind I haven't done this so I cannot say it is a flawless idea as I have not tested it.
I might add the actually weight to the size like, FR-M3.45C106 for Medium 3.45lbs
