  • Companies like Apple, Google and Starbucks have been heavily criticized for seemingly mastering the art of tax dodging. They make billions in profits and pay virtually nothing back to the state. How do they do it? Why did it take so long for politicians to start addressing the issue?
    After months of investigation, we uncovered confidential documents revealing how Amazon avoids paying tax. Witness how steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal reacts when asked about its tax position in France and see how British American Tobacco wines and dines French MPs to ensure it pays much less tax than it should.
    This documentary was first released in 2013.

      There are actual EU laws as well in the structures between EU members. So what he has done is to try to adopt some kind of model like the UK offshore had. But he might not know that was done in a legal way. Because of our commonwealth etc. So these American companies maybe presuming without realising the EU tax laws and tax structures which are agreed and signed treaties etc. So....

    Example to frighten others.

    In 2016 Amazon closed my seller account with 600k in pending deposits with no explanation. Sill have yet to receive any money. None of my family or kids order from Amazon. We are doing just fine too. There are other companies that don't sell cheap knock-offs that deliver fast too.

    If you can't beat them, join them!
    Most of the comments are from people who don't have a business mentality thus, they will remain 9-to-5 workers and will wait for someone to pay them a pension.
    Invest how they do, set up companies the way they do and where they do, open trust funds the way they do and most of all, learn how the system works. With dedication, it's easy to beat, it has been designed this way, to make business.

      LEGEND ? How long was Margaret Hodge, IN GOVERNMENT, while Amazon were tax dodging ?
      Don't give me the twaddle about tax not being her brief :
      Being an MP, whose constituency is deprived of resources, because of tax dodgers, made stopping them, part of her job.
      Corrupt imitation lefties, making all that noise while Tories are in power, but not when imitation Labour are in power is to be expected from imitation lefty infiltrators into the Labour Party.
      That does not make her a legend

    Most I know would like to pay as little tax as possible. Suddenly, when massive companies do it, it's wrong.
    Anyone who claims "Well they make billions.", is an idiot. The point is the principle.

    • @davideyres955
      @davideyres955 Před 6 měsíci

      Not really. The point is that these companies employ resources that ordinary people do not have to avoid and sometimes evade tax on an industrial scale. The general population has their tax removed at source and cannot avoid a vast amount of tax at all and as a proportion of their income pay a high percentage. Amazon for example employs Luxembourg as an artificial hq to shift profits there so they pay negligible tax and certainly not what they would if they declared the profits in the country where they were earned. These profits then go to people who already have more money than 99.9% of the population will ever see.
      The tax ordinary people pay is used to support society that these companies exploit to make vast profits. You also need to factor in that the people benefiting from this undertaxed revenue also structure that income so they avoid tax on their personal income so not only is it avoiding tax one the profit, it is also avoiding tax on the income as well.
      I agree people do not want to pay tax but the issue at hand is the fact that the ordinary person pays more as a percentage of their money than these companies do.

    As long as all their employees are paying income tax, then they are still a social benefit.

    • @ashotofmercury
      @ashotofmercury Před rokem +7

      I don't think the total amount of all of their employees paid tax would even come CLOSE to what Amazon should be paying! 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄
      Also, that's not really the point is it?....
