  • Nobody once told me that spending 16 hours in an airplane is the perfect way to prepare for two days of all-day riding with a couple thousand meters of climbing each. Nobody, it turns out, was right.
    Andy Van Bergen, who you may know as the creator of Everesting but I know as my favorite in-house cyclo-masochist, thought it would be funny to inform me of his plan while I was somewhere over the Pacific, en route on a Boeing 787 from Los Angeles to Melbourne for two weeks of CyclingTips work meetings, and a bit of riding on the side. “I’ll pick you up at the airport,” he said, the message pinging me over the plane’s wifi. “We’ll go and get a parma.”
    Sounds good. Not entirely sure what a parma is, but guessing it has something to do with chicken parmesan, which is delicious. I’m in.
    “It’s kinda far,” he wrote, ten minutes later.
    “How far? Bad traffic?” I responded.
    “Traffic probably not the problem,” he said.
    Thanks to Canyon for making this happen

    What an excellent video. This has instantly made me change my order for a custom disc roadie to a custom gravel/adventure bike. This has so brilliantly captured the essence of a real adventure ride. 2019 goal: ride a gravel bike a LONG way from home and make sure the journey involves pubs, river crossings and potential misadventure. Brilliant!

    Great stuff, you're giving me the gravel road envy :) Extra-kudos for riding straight out of a long-haul flight...I don't think I could do it...on the other hand it's probably the best jet-lag killer there is...

    I don't think reversed brakes would be a problem, I always put about the same amount of force on both levers anyway.

  • @GeekonaBike
    @GeekonaBike Před 5 lety

    However U run your breaks (moto style is best), switching around even for one ride will leave U confused for 6 to 8 mo. One more reason to run mech breaks, as switching cables at the lever is dead simple.
