    For all new future riders that are looking to join us Yamaha riders in the dark side ... don’t listen to the cowboy lol... yes the factor seats are uncomfortable but it’s an easy fix, just get a new mod seat. I ride my R1 all day ,, no issues. Yes it does get hot but If you shift quick and keep your R1 on 3rd gear or higher your bike will stay cool.

      Exactly. He's too big for that bike. That's why he's uncomfortable on it after 30mins. Plus he out of shape and can't take the heat the motorcycle puts off. Those naked bikes don't look good and pull more hoes as that R1 will. Smh.

      My 2016 R1 doesn’t seem to run that hot unless I’m in stock and go traffic. At that point any bike runs hot. The 2015 plus models don’t run nearly hot as the 2009 - 2015 models. I got first degree burns through pants on my thighs from one in June on a demo ride.

      @mikespencer7241 Před 3 lety +16

      Same here bro. I can’t even ride in any other position. I feel like I have no control. I’ve owned R1s since 2000 and this guy complaining about the R1 being too fast and too uncomfortable is a complete pussy. Lol. Having the power to get around idiots on the freeway is great. You don’t even have to downshift to pass sometimes. Is it practical. Not really but we don’t buy list bikes for practicality. When you see guys driving Mclarens and Lambos on the street we don’t tell them they’re crazy do we? We all like different bikes and styles. I won’t even waste my time riding anything other than a liter bike. When I can’t ride one anymore I won’t ride anymore. I’m 46 years old and have zero plans on selling my current R1 other than to get a 2020 model. lol.
      I started on 600cc sport bikes and went from my GSXR600 to my R1 and never looked back. These guys scaring people away like your going to drop dead just sitting on it is ridiculous. Respect the machine and you’ll be fine. Pick you spots to have fun and don’t over do it.

    On a 600, you can also use 2 gears, 3 to 4 if you value your gas.

Yes, I don’t think it is a good bike for touring across the country in but for ripping on the weekend or even doing some light commuting I think it is great. If you are not an over weight Harley simp that you want to haul your fat girl friend on it is fine to ride for more than an hour at a time. Just depends on what you are looking to do. Not a fan of the MT10 either the ergonomics just feel weird to me and it has a lot of cost cutting parts, not to mention it so ugly in my opinion.

    Aftermarket rear sets makes a huge difference as well. Especially adjustable ones. You can adjust them to lower and straighten you legs a little bit for a more comfy feel on the street. Very easy to do so. I rock the MGP gold rear sets on my 2018 plus a complete 100% custom and fabricated 1 of 1 seat for me and me only as well as adding in the heated seat option as I like to ride a cooler days sometimes so it’s nice to have the option to keep my bunghole nice and toasty and it is by far the comfiest sport bike I’ve ever ridden after those two changes. I can ride for hours without getting stiff. But also riding a sport bike all the time you build up the tolerance sitting in that position but for a first timer straight from the factory r1 Absolutely not it’s sucks. It’s more of an acquired taste the way I see it.

I always chuckle when people discuss shocks in the 21st century. Unless you race competitively most people will not really notice the difference. Riders make the difference in racing as all the bikes are fairly similar.

    I'll keep my crf250l swiss army knife and the 70ish mpg. The bike is pretty though! Just a question why isnt it blue?

  • @highplainnsdrifter3050

    It is a fine piece of engineering excellence.
    & To ride it chill, you can put it in chill mode, but if want to rip, put it rip mode. That means you have the best of two worlds in one machine. Great.
    While clearly a bike for the experienced, rider, it's excellence makes it worth having.🤔🤔

      It's a super easy, low consumption fun bike. I have the new one with the 19' inch front wheel and slipper clutch and it's very good. Also, general quality of the motorcycle is pretty good for a "budget bike".

      I bought that bike, I think it was 2004 but it didn't feel nice, although the common you here about the bike is that it's a very good bike.
      It heats up in slow traffic, and my main complain was the heavy feel on the front tire. It just wasn't feeling flickable, like the 600 supersport class. So I got rid of it very soon after buying. Although I did buy a 600cbr after that, but once that got stolen I am a proud owner of a sv650.

    Well I don't know about most of what yami's friend was saying because I own a 2020 R1 and I love everything about the R1 I love that it's very tame that you can use it for the street which I do as a daily I also and now I'm a fan of the ZX10 I don't want to Naked Bike I don't like how they look I don't like being straight up I actually have a few bad discs in my lower back so putting the weight more on my shoulders are a lot better I just wanted to let you know that it's not always better to have a more upright naked butt I've been in three motorcycle accidents one on the racetrack two on the road from people not paying attention and what I change my purchase for a 2020 R1 no
