Aftermarket PS4 HDMI Ports Don't Align! - Broken PS4 Restoration
Vložit
- čas přidán 1. 07. 2024
- I purchased a broken PS4 off eBay for AU$125. It has a faulty HDMI port causing a white light on start up.
I need to replace the port (if i can find a seller that has compatible HDMI ports) and give this unit a good clean. I also try and polish the HDD cover, using sandpaper and plastic polishes. Model: CUH-1002A.

Cleaner than when it was packed on the factory. Really thorough job! Congratulations!
Excellent work on the HDD cover. That can be a tutorial video on its own. There are tons of scratched hdd covers and ps3s out there to make look new again. Also ps5 with the shiny black plastic might be in need in the future.
I have been watching your videos lately and I learned a lot from then. Congrats man, amazing job repairing all those eletronics.
I really enjoy your videos - they are so well filmed and put together. You show a lot of skill and knowledge, admirably thorough, and also have the humility to point out where you think you could've done something better. Only took one video to decide me to subscribe.
Thanks so much! Actually, I often have more mistakes which don't get included in the video because I'm trying to keep the video length down.
Congrats man! That was awesome. Much success to you!!
Maybe those aftermarket PS4 HDMI ports are made for the later versions of PS4s (Slim and Pro)? This is just my guess as I don't have a broken PS4 to work on, I would love to own a PS4 someday.
Good job on the repair!
You got the lowdown on this one -
💯 perfect work RT! ✅✅✅
6:42 This is the way how I desolder hdmi connector. I have hot air station but I never use it in this case when is enough space to work with soldering iron. Key is to add a lot of tin and heating hdmi support leggs and hdmi pins at the same time. Rest is the same like you do. By the way, i preffer ERSA I CON PICO for this job.
You are able to heat the support legs and the pins at the same time with a soldering iron? Do you cover the whole port in a massive ball of solder? I can't imagine this. I could get heat on the pins and the closer 2 legs, but not on the back 2 legs with the same iron. Sounds tricky 🤔
@@RestoreTechnique It's thrue, I garantie. You must have good soldering iron (in my case is ersa i-con pico - 70w) set temperature to 360°C, make giant solder ball and wait to meld all the thin (10 second approx). Bigger soldering tips needed... I use alluminium adhesive foil to prevent solder ball to escape from solder working area. It's not a joke. Sorry for bad english...
@@zoranpaunovic4336 Nice work 👍 i will consider trying it sometime
Very well done, especially when you polished the cover !!! 👌😎👍
Very satisfying to watch this, i love it ! very good work man👏👏👍
To remove excess lead, I recommend using pure solder arpus on solder wick.
I'm so glad you used that title. I thought I was getting crazy. So I'm gonna have to buy more ports I guess...
Good job!! You are really a good restoration guy or whatever you called I am just 10 years old
The scratch removal method is incredible man lol, I need that too! 😂😭
😀👌
Excellent video and keep it up. I liked and subscribed. Hopefully you can do a PS3 Super Slim restoration next time. Thanks :)
jai pris plaisir a regarder ce travail minutieux ! un grand bravo !
Merci!
Awesome work 👍👍👍👍
i wish i had your tools when i dissassemble stuff
Bro wtf this video has no right to be so godly satisfying
😄 thanks!
Very nice work and a good tutorial. What device are you using for suckling up the old solder? Thanks! 😊😎😊
I'm using a solder sucker, and desoldering braid/wick (Goot wick brand, 3mm and 1.5mm).
My favorite parts of your videos is when you drop the little baby screws in the little pans 🤣
Great restoration
Cheers :)
13:48 as an italian this got my approval
😄🤌
Well done, liked your dismounting the ps5 controller. Very much packet in it. Also like this video. Did you also cleaned the dust between the power button? You can see there a lot.
Nice Chanel. Sub and like out.
Yes I did, thankyou 😊
Flawless!!
How to clean a glass panel efficiently?
Nice work!!!
Also nice work polishing the plastic. 10/10.
Thanks so much 😄
Its my ocd triggering me to say this but they make swabs that don't leave behind cotton when you use them. There way better to use than cotton swabs when working with electronics.
Ok thanks, I will look for them. I didn't use cotton swabs much until I started making videos, and needed my hand out of the way to get the shot. I would use microfibre cloths mostly.
Polishing the cover is good, but the connector had to be soldered from 2 sides, because. the metalization is damaged and the fastening is unreliable.
thermal pad that you use , may I know the thickness of it ? Thanks ...
1mm
Where did they keep this thing... in a barn?? I really don't understand how consoles get this dirty. I have 2 cats, and never do my consoles ever look like this.
Nice man
Saved me I almost bought the wrong hdmi , about to tackle this project in the next few days
Oh nice! 👍
👍Good luck with your hands
😃👍
Can someone tell me where to buy this hdmi port😢
I think i have the same issue with mine PS4.
When i turn the console on i have snow on my Tv, sometime i got pictures for 3-4 sec.
What do you think?
Snow? That's usually only with an analog signal... It could be the PS4 HDMI port, or a bad HDMI cable, a bad HDMI port on your TV, or the HDMI controller chip in the PS4.
hi nice tutorial can you do tutorial to remove the scratches of the hdd cover please and put all the tools to use thank you
What is the item called the small rod on 9:58 on the left?
That's Solder. It's a metal alloy that melts with the soldering iron, and connects all the electrical components to the motherboard. It comes as a wire on a roll. Whenever you see soldering you will see this stuff.
nice works
Thankyou!
I need an hdmi repair it works fine but the port in the PlayStation is bent
Now its refurbished 😁
Parabéns!!
Can someone tell me why there is a metal plate on the back cover over the fan?
I honestly don't know. I'm curious now 🤷♂️
@@RestoreTechnique the metal plate can be spotted at 1:20. The slim or pro ps4 doesn't have that fortunately.
@@MirzaKhalid metal plate is to help the power supply stay cool and not burn out the plastic underneath the metal plate
@@antonioramirez4671 I am talking about the metal plate on the fan side not the power supply. The PS4 Slim and Pro also has metal plate over the power supply but not over the fan. The Standard PS4 has only metal plate just above the fan - why? Didn't you read my comments properly or saw the video where I highlighted?
love ur hairy arms by the way.

Your "pineapple on pizza" take leaves me satisfied 👍
😄
Someone tried to fix it but didn't even bother cleaning it at all?!?! Ugh...
does it work ?
Yes, 11:53 👍
how can i possibly subscribe when you don't like pineapple on pizza! :)
😔
U are weird...
Faulty hdmi. Dafuq did you do to broke it
I only have pineapple on pizza just so i have plenty pineapple to eat separately
😄🍍
This is another hideous example of a mean-spirited manufacturer - Sony - doing lousy tricks to hamper fixing a broken device: using CUSTOM sockets slightly different from the standard! I hate scumbags like these! Service-barring practices must be made illegal! Louis Rossman is 1000% right!
Why you don’t use flux
I do... Not sure why I didn't use flux when adding solder to the legs, but every other point in the video I've used flux.
@@RestoreTechnique ohh okay I just didn’t see it in the video lol
You could of just bent the aftermarket HDMI port from the legs,
True, but that's too janky for my liking, especially for a video
Bro I need help with my ps4
You need to isolate the problem to work out what it is exactly.
- plug the cable into the other HDMI port on your TV, see if that works
- try a different HDMI cable
- confirm that another HDMI device works fine with that TV and HDMI cable. Try a DVD player, computer or another console.
- inspect the pins on the PS4 HDMI port, are they damaged, sticking up, broken?
- I think you said you've had it in for HDMI repair before? What did they do to fix it, was it a port replacement, or the HDMI controller chip?
I tried a different hdmi cable and I tried it on my brother Xbox but I used a different hdmi cable and I repaired my ps4 before but I think it was the port replacement I’m not sure because my parents did it for me

Pineapple on pizza 😍😋😋
ASMR repair videos are as needless as an in-game appearance by Kojima in Cyberpunk.
gg
Oh wow 😂🤣
NOOB
Why U dont force to the right position to align or drill the mobo to fix the shield in new position? Huuueheuhuebrrbr
