Could someone please explain the rationale behind RomeOpro check-raise on 40:43 mark?
It’s actually a completely standard and normal play because first of all in this specific spot Romeo has lot more 8x than the CO (or should at least have it). Best combos for CO would be some rare 8x, some pocketpairs and some natural draws. So AQ, AK, and some other broadways put almost entire CO’s range in a sick spot, even pocket pairs. The pocket pairs will have to deal against a range that have more 8x than his, over pairs at basically full frequency and also high equity range of bluff that will find some pretty good outs. Any overcard will be a though decision with top pairs. So, the fact is that CO shouldn’t be betting too linear at this spot at equilibrium. Which apparently he isn’t in fact doing. So these overcards bluff range benefit a lot of the increased fold equity even against the polar range since he’s OOP
The fact is that these kind of spot are difficult to find and require a lot of knowledge, presence and confidence.
