I've just started to do judo and these contents are incredibly useful! thank you so much!!!
The guys at my club are always telling me that I'm "too tense". I have a hard time feeling when I have that large surface of contact, so I tend to kinda whip my partners into position with no tsukuri.
Yeah it can take a while to learn how to properly move your partner. Just give it time it will come.
Love your content travis. Your videos always target a really interesting topic so thank you!
More videos like this please. I love the concept behind this.
Awesome thanks an area in which I always struggled with because no one talked about this topic much.
Seeing this video again I realise that my Taekwondo and Karate helped me a lot in developing that whipping action you described. Good movement is universal I guess 💁🏻♂️
perfect. thanks for sharing.
That's beautiful advice thanks
Great stuff! Thank you, Travis!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Tips like these are really interesting BC not talked about much/over looked. more tips on the little details please. Thanks ur great at instructing

This guy is a genius.... Thanks for sharing
Thanks. And thanks for watching.
Been training a long time, but never picked up on that before now,. It's pretty d*mn fundamental. Thank you
Great stuff...could you show some drills to work this? Thank you.
Yes as soon as I'm aloud to open up the club again.
Travis Stevens you are the best judo instructor online I have seen looking forward to seeing the drill videos
Excellent! Yes... Open up the partner and cause those reactions that can be taken advantage of by continuing the motions that are presented.
That's a good idea for dvd Travis!
Whats that? I'm always up for shooting content everyone wants to see.
@@TravisStevensgrappling these tricky japanese secrets! Combinations that actually works, specified weighted exersices and techniques for tall guys! I will buy all!
Would you mind shooting a no gi video Travis please. Some basic throws? Keep up the good work 👍
Travis, thank you first off. I know it's an old video but may I ask what you suggest for hand strengthening?
Hey coach just watched your copa podio match w Paulo Miyao. Close match! Didn't know you had competed BJJ as well OSS
Travis you have one of the greatest talents in the world. Your ability to teach. I always learn so much from your videos. The hardest part in stand up graplling for me is understanding how to move the other person. Tai sabaki..etc. can you please make more of these videos for movement? Also where is your school?
Thank you I'm so glad you think that! Yes I can make a video on moving your opponent. I coach out of Pedro's Judo Center in Wakefield MA. It's a National Training Center for judo. And it's where I trained as an athlete.
@Travis But in this video, Uke's jacket is hanging loose outside of his belt. Would you still get the same play with the jacket if it was tucked in as required in IJF competition?
Although this is an old post, I can try and answer by telling you that when you start pushing and pulling with enough strength and whip action any lapel will come undone enough to allow you to move it.
Nooice!
