  • I hate hearing myself talk and I don’t want to be a CZcams star, but I hope I can pass on small tid bits of info to you guys about night vision. Message me on Instagram (
    @castrosorous_rex) for questions I’m bad about replying on CZcams. All night vision in this video is mine but provided from Core Vision Industries.

    Same with the Army dude. I was a medic for an infantry battalion in the 101st and we were never taught much about NVGs. We didn't even learn about them in basic if I recall. Thankfully I had good NCOs to teach me about NVGs. Will be purchasing my own dual tube nods soon. Thanks for the info homie

    we had a powerpoint, on pvs-7bs, when i went to soi in 2009.
    then got issued 14s and had no idea wtf I was doing. its funny how much things change (like what youre issued now) and how things stay the same (training, mannerisms in your speech)
    good shit bro, stay safe, thanks for the knowledge 🤙

    DTNVSs are in the same weight range with specific lenses as PVS31As but lack a remote port, Manual Gain adjustment, and have less clear lenses than the PVS31As even with the higher end and lighter lenses. They do have optional IP stops though. And use CR123As vs AA batteries.

  • @hahtsauce
    @hahtsauce Před 3 lety +7

    well that kinda ends the debate in my head. Was thinking about PVS-31A, 1531, and DTNVS. But... looking cool isn't everything. Think I'll just get RNVGs with the best l3 unfilmed WP tubes available. One thing that is holding me back is the lack of manual gain. But I hear from a lot of people that it really isn't that big of a deal. Semper Fi.

    • @castrotherichard

    RNVG is not using the same battery connector as PVS-31, it's LEMO and 31 is Fischer so thats the reason it's not fixing. BTW both connectors are differs the way it's secure in connector, so you just need get Fischer (from battery pack - BOTH original and replica) => LEMO connector or you also can use just LEMO LEMO if it's original one (the use a little other connector, it can work in battery pack, but you wont be able to pull it out as it will stuck)

    I understand the your point of the helmet being in the way after flipping your nods up with them articulated closer to the helmet but if you know you're not going to be using them for a bit it greatly reduces the felt weight since they are not sticking way off the helmet. Plus if you're running duels it you can articulate one up and run them as a mono if you want to retain natural nightvision in one eye to see the environment naturally. You could also just articulate both up if you need to just get them out of the way but if you're familiar with your gear you should be able to just flip the mount up just as fast.
    Personally I like articulation but I can also see how someone would just want to set their IPD and just have a simpler setup that they don't have to mess with too much. While there is a lot of pros to articulation sometimes simpler is better.

    Also instead of using the IR on NVGs, it's better to use the IR flash on something like a Peq15 which will not blind people like it would if you were using the IR light on some Nods

      @@jonathanmcleod9551 @Jonathan Mcleod For real?? wow, i was actually considering those for purchase too, lol. from the many reviews of nods out there, almost all of the reviewers went with the articulation models, and seeing that the dtnvs's were more ruggedized than the dtnvg's, that is why i was considering them. so how did you end up breaking them, if you dont mind me asking? and did you get them fixed?

      RNVG’s are great. I have 31’s at work and don’t like the articulation because if I bump into something it will move vs the RNVG will stay in place. The articulation is also another failure point.

    • @xsweetxvampirousx
      @xsweetxvampirousx Před 2 lety

      I guess where I'm coming from is that you'll see tube 'A' has all these seemingly random numbers for specs and costs $1800 but tube 'B' has different numbers and costs $3200. Of course one could assume the more expensive tube is better, but how much better?

      lol yeah that doesn’t sound like much fun at all but I will say we cheaply got the 31D’s which are made by elbit and still sit around the military standard of approximately 1800 FOM so although they’re white phosphorus they don’t have the best image quality also the gentex helmet we get issued is heavier than the full cut helmets we used to get issued but that’s just me knit picking
