Nadine’s story
Five-year-old Nadine has had a unique medical journey. After prenatal tests revealed a rare congenital heart defect, a surgical intervention was performed while she was still in the womb. The operation was a success and Nadine’s heart was able to function at about 80 percent. However, this didn’t spell the end of Nadine’s hardship, as she required open heart surgery at birth and was later diagnosed with craniosynostosis, a condition that causes the bones in a baby’s skull to join together too early. A proud CHEO School student with a confident and friendly attitude, Nadine is a shining example of resilience.

L'histoire de Nadine
La petite nadine âgée de cinq ans a connu un parcours médical unique. Des tests prénataux ont révélé une malformation cardiaque congénitale rare, donc Nadine a dû subir une intervention chirurgicale in utero. L'opération a été un succès et le cœur de Nadine a pu fonctionner à environ 80 %. Cependant, les difficultés de Nadine ne se sont pas arrêtées là. Elle a aussi dû subir une chirurgie à coeur ouvert à la naissance, et on lui a diagnostiqué une craniosynostose, une condition qui fait que les os du crâne d'un bébé se fusionnent trop tôt. Fière élève de l'École du CHEO avec une attitude confiante et amicale, Nadine est un brillant exemple de résilience!
