John should first win some matches in the 105 class before going for a title shot.. I still cant believe how Oleg won so easily against Dadikyan. 105 rank is a bit of a mess right now. Because I assumed Prudnik would sooner or later be the n. 1, but he got crushed by Irakli, who got destroyed by Dadikyan, who got destroyed by Oleg, who lost to John, who lost to Ongarbaev.
I think all of this is proof of how high the level is in this weight class and how close these guys all are and that it seems to depend more on the form of the day in the respective matches as to who wins in the end. And as Pradeep also says in this video, that the different styles of the athletes seems to play a role too, who wins against who.

If John has stability in his shoulder it's a completely different game and he is right at that very top of 105. But it seems watching him in practice the shoulder and side pressure is only getting worse. I hope I am wrong.
Larry Wheels has realized that he is not as gifted at Armwrestling as he was at Powerlifting (or that he is too far behind the international-level competition currently), so when he wants to be a national champion and world-class contender, yet he is probably not going to achieve that soon (or ever) maybe makes him feel like "why try if I cannot be one of the best?"

Not a chance for john lol his time is over. He might even loose to Leonidas. Larry is great at body building and strongman and needs to stick with it. His motivation for the sport left after he lost to Khaled who didn't train and Leonidas who is way newer.
I think John's strength started dropping since his Corey West match, which maybe shocked his system too much and left him vulnerable to illness. Oleg improved a lot technically, learning from his match with Brzenk.
Legends deserve a bone once in a while… If he beats Leonidas…. Throw him a bone. It will most likely be his “championship” swan song… Let him go out on his shield… If he pulls off the upset… great. If not, then he puts over the younger champion.. Win / win…
I think when it comes to the question "can" John be a #1 again, all we have to do is look at the version of him that showed up for his rematch against Voevoda. That was a monster John we haven't seen since 2008 and that version of him I, have no doubt could hold the title again. And I think it's just a matter of whether or not he would want that title as badly as he wanted to beat Alexey.
larry is doing to much to be tied down to arm wrestling. Dude has a massive social media presence. Bodybuilding and powerfulifting will always come first for him. Arm wrestling will always be a side hustle for him. He doesnt need the fame or money that Arm wresting gives which clearly is nothing to him

Leonidas is different to larry though. Leonidas is at this point an armwrestler, larry never was. The comparison between the two was that they had very similar powerlifting numbers at the time and both started armwrestling at the same time. Leonidas is fully onboard. It will be his hardest match yet, although it wont be a clean with for John that is fore sure.

Leonidas has pretty solid endurance probs due to his age. The match is good. Absolutely no hate towards this match. It is 100% warranted. It makes sense.
John only has his hand left. Endurance, shoulder (=side) and biceps all are gone, wont hold up to even 3 rounds. Best chance for Leonidas is to draghook through John until Johns endurance fails him. Will take 2 rounds, but then it should be easy. John would need to pull super efficiently...but he wants to play, and i can't blame him. He is pulling for fun now, not titles.
It seems to me like all weird results in the 105 kg class are because of the stylistic differences. I think the athletes are very close in terms of strength but the style is playing major factor. One common factor I think which is the reason for this maybe most of these athletes are not endurance based. Endurance can help when you are facing a stylistically bad matchup. Just my thoughts

It's a pity that Artem Taynov took part in this Armolymp tournament. This event took place right 6 days before his EvW supermatch which definitely affected his arm power during the match with Betkili Oniani.
It was either style problem for Oleg that is a possibility, or Oleg has so much respect for John and he let John win. Oleg may never admit it, but I have feeling Oleg let John win after seeing those other matches, just my opinion.

People hate to hear it, but since John took vax and boosters he’s never been the same and has zero stamina. He always complains of numbness. That is why he said he’s not taking the boosters anymore. I think now the damage is done because of that.
He didn't have any stamina in the match with Larratt which was way before covid / vax. It has more to do with him being lazy in his old days and not training at all like other competitors. Arm wrestling has changed and it's more competitive now. Edit: and also John's shoulder issues prevent him from having more table time and get his strength / stamina up

Yes definitely I agree with you his shoulder is a major problem and it’s probably most of his issues. But John said it himself on a podcast he’s not taking the vaccine because it’s causing him to get sick often and he has no stamina ever since taking it so he said he’s not taking any more boosters. People really hate to admit it that the vaccine causes a lot of issues in the body. A lot of people who received the vaccine do not want to admit they might be health issues now because of it out of fear. I guess it’s better to think it’s a conspiracy then accept in long term health issues and I get it people are scared. John on the other hand said he think it’s causing him problems because ever since he took it that he’s been having issues. I think John’s battle with illness for almost a year haulted his progress. I think when he’s healthy and training he’s still near the top 105-115.
