    I'm a plasterer of 37 yrs and offer Krend work regularly. Just wanted to say I liked your video and this will help a lot of people to have a go at using a great product; Which is Krend. The old days of sand and cement render are over! The skill required to flatten and smooth off the old way was far beyond most have a go DIY people!👍

    And if you can’t get 15 fill it out the add 10mm beads after otherwise it’s costing you a fortune in material and you find it works out to around 15 and you can’t tell also if feel it is in sufficient put the mesh through the whole scratch or the building to bind it giving in strength and flexibility can’t be a painful job when k rend is used when it is too thick and I have given myself arthritis from it and you find the more material the more pressure on your joints

      Thanks, no you don’t need to prime the blockwork if it’s new. If it’s been up a while I would put some primer on it, just to make sure.
      And yes I would actually recommend starting early and scratching earlier. I would also recommend using a iBar more, I’ve changed my method a bit lately. I’m gonna upload an updating version in the next couple of weeks.

    When would applying a base coat be necessary?

    Or
    (Time between two layers of top coat like in tbe video)

    • @AnthonyParryPlastering
      @AnthonyParryPlastering  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Stuart, no the k rend isn’t bone dry when I scratch it. I have always left it over night. I know some people who put it on first thing and scratch it last thing. But there are quite a few variables like wind, sun and temperature that can cause different issues. So I would stick to doing the next day.

    Also did you scratch the first coat ?
    Can you finish it with a wet sponge ?

    Buy yourself a spatula or an i bar pal just run that over it just before your brush gets rid of all the last imperfections and finds any remaining bulges also with the reveals use a 2inch trowel straight on or sideways and same again with the spatula after just to keep it straight to the door
    I do loads for k rend and you should use a few little extra stages your missing out and then k rend will give you the warranty
    For your work which not many people can actually do when doing k rend jobs which also looks better for you when pricing I suggest doing the k rend course not a lot of money and I think you can now do it in St. Helens may have to query that

      A bag for top coat per square metre
      Base does about 4/5 metre depending on how bad substrate is for filling out

    Would the waste re mix if you wet it again? Seems a shame to bin so much.

      No it doesn’t remix. It is a shame but it’s the nature of the beast I guess 😀

    What would you do in terms of having lead flashing beneath a window sill on a wall you want to render? Fold it up render under it and push the flashing back down after?
