      From Toronto with an E400. Great video especially when you showed the 3 different area that the battery can be.Is this battery same as a module..?

    Awesome instructions. I was wondering where the F was the battery located. The dealer told me it is under the cluster but did not say where exactly. Hope to see more content from you.

    Thanks for this, I was able to replace my battery with a $55 battery from FCPEuro (and probably could have done a $15 no name from Amazon) instead of the $300 the dealer wanted.
    Note that if you are having a hard time doing it through that little hole in the side of the dash, you can just undo the three T25 screws in the panel on the bottom of the dash (above the footwell), and get much more direct access from there. The cage still doesn't come out as there is a harness attached to it for some reason, but it hangs down low enough that you don't have to reach in much, and you have a much larger opening.

    Great video, very useful thank you.
    I have a UK spec 2010 model so it’s the same but opposite.
    Couple of points to note:
    1: If you’re using a non MB battery replacement check the terminals as the one I had, the terminals were the other way round. Sounds basic but you can’t teach stupid.
    2: If you’ve got hands bigger than a 5 year old then it’s a tricky procedure. The hand brake cable gets in the way and as soon as you release the holding bolt the battery and cradle drops. For those with bigger hands I’d suggest undoing the trim under the steering wheel, 3 torx screws, and getting your hands up and under and dropping the battery down that way. Fit the new battery up and under too. Saves the faffing with little piddly gap. You shouldn’t need to remove the trim totally as you can move it out the way to create the space.

    Mine has been showing this for a while. Thank you for making such easy to follow content, I think mine only comes on during the winter and it turns off during the summer, so it might have something to do with the weather as my location can get very cold. I'll replace it when it comes on permanently.

    • @DriveTalkCars
      @DriveTalkCars  Před 2 lety

      I am glad you enjoyed the video and it was helpful. Yeah, it might be the weather. I only started seeing issues when the weather got colder.

    • @JSS-yx3kn
      @JSS-yx3kn Před 2 lety

      Why are batteries worse in winter?
      But just as heat speeds up chemical reactions, cold temperatures slow them down. That's why you might feel your battery can become sluggish in winter, even though its state of charge may remain unchanged. At colder temperatures, the battery's ability to provide sufficient power to start and run a vehicle is diminished.

    Thank you so much for this. I will be trying it myself. My auxiliary battery has always showed up on the dashboard to replace it and now it’s causing issues with the Bluetooth and etc after 3 months lol. So purchased the battery yesterday for 73 dollars at the dealership. Wish me luck to install it 😅

      1- might need to use an ODB2 device to reset the code (goto pepboys, autozone or other autostore and they usually will let use theirs to reset) 2- could mean that your main battery is starting to go bad, 3 - charging issue (need a mechanic)

    Hey thanks for the helpful vid. I just changed my E350s Auxiliary Battery saving me at least $400 if i had the dealership do it for me. Question, i can see a wire with a yellow fuse at the end marked no. "5" hanging loose, i'm not sure if i accidentally disconnected it. Any idea? Thanks again for the useful DIY vid.

    • @DriveTalkCars
      @DriveTalkCars  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for checking out the video/channel and leaving a comment. No, I am not sure about that wire. Do you see where it connects in the wiring harness? I would assume there would be a message on the dashboard if it was something vital to the car's system.

    Is it seperate from the charging system ? If so, probably no need to disconnect the main battery..
    If its charge just runs down over time, why cant you just re charge it ?
