    Thank you so much for this info!! I took a ton of notes!! I was wondering if you could possibly make a video on social work jobs that you can do at a BSW level? Specifically, those you can do while getting your MSW? I know you touched on a few in this video and I'll definitely look into your great suggestions, but it has been such a challenge to find a flexible, social work-related job while getting my MSW 😕. I'm wondering if I'm the only one lol. Of course, there are plenty of other flexible jobs out there like retail, fast food, etc., that I could do, but it would be great to be in a position where I can gain social work skills while in grad school, you know? Anyway! Thank you so much for sharing and being such an inspiration! Every time I start to get discouraged, I love coming to your channel and finding the motivation to keep going! You're a true gem Anna ❤

      I will add this to the list for future video ideas! I agree that it can definitely be hard in some areas to find good jobs while getting a degree. In the time between my BSW and finishing my MSW, I was a daycare worker/preschool teacher for a bit and I also did online ACT/SAT tutoring. I found both of those on Indeed (the tutoring paid way better than the preschool did). Good luck!! Thank you for your kind words 💗

It's a super flexible job and I get to create my own schedule based on when my clients are available available. I had experience working at a summer camp with kids and I'm also a certified coach. It's my first social work job and I feel so grateful with the flexibility.

    Hi! this is a great video! I was hoping you could answer a question for me. I currently have 4+ years of experience working with college students doing advising (I currently only have a BA). If I were to earn an MSW (and not specialize in clinical sw) do you think I would still be applying to entry level jobs? Or would my previous experience "count" towards my overall experience and I would I still be applying for entry level jobs? Hope that makes sense!

    • @AnnaBea
      @AnnaBea  Před 8 měsíci

      Hi! I definitely think your previous work experience would give you a leg-up when seeking jobs post-grad with an MSW! Some jobs will require a certain number of years of "post-grad experience," but not all. Sometimes a hard part of finding jobs as a social worker is getting your foot in the door in an industry and having previous experience like that gets your foot in the door now equipped with a graduate degree.

    I have a question can you please help me? SO when I am looking at accredited programs in the CSWE website, some say clinical or direct practice, and others say mental health for example. I am interested in doing therapy in the future so which route will work? is there a difference between the two paths? because the program that I was looking at (The University of Texas at Arlington) has a program with direct practice in mental health and substance abuse. would this prepare me to provide therapy in private practice? thanks so much I have been researching forever and this is the only piece I need to figure out before I enroll.

    • @AnnaBea
      @AnnaBea  Před rokem

      I think lots of times clinical and mental health can be used interchangeably which can be confusing! My best advice would be to look at the classes you’ll be taking and see if they’re ones that you feel will be interesting to you. The good thing is that getting a future clinical license to do private practice therapy will depend more on your hours and experience after graduating! So whichever degree program you take should help you feel prepared to use and improve those skills as you make steps towards the full licensure. Does that help?

      if i can be honest, america is not as great as it seems yes you could probably get a decent job however the politics of this country and the way people now hate each other id say it is not worth it, with you being foreign some live in fear due to the hate, a lot of middle eastern people are lumped as a "terrorist" since 9/11. If you can overcome the hate and fear and if this is something you really want i say go for it but just remember there are a ton of people who will never see you as equal however there will be just as many that do. there is a reason why many small towns and such dont have a large representation of nationalities

    • @ramblingmillennial1560
      @ramblingmillennial1560 Před 7 měsíci +2

      @@pendragofan This is sucha weird response to his/her question. Like yeah there's racial tension but you're acting as if there's this huge antiindian sentiment here when there isn't. Indians had nothing to do with 9/11. And you could assume they wouldn't end up in a small town if they'd move here for work so the lack of diversity in those places doesn't really matter.

    Social work very prides itself on diversity yet it continues to attract fewer and fewer men into the profession (I believe the current figure is something like 15% male and this figure has been slowly decreasing for many years) which means it is *fundamentally unrepresentative* of the communities it serves.
    I was a social worker for most of my working life and yet I cannot remember a single occasion when this fundamental issue was ever addressed. Also given the current vogue for engaging with all sorts of gender identities, how on earth has this basic issue gone so far under the radar?
