    ORIGINAL MESSAGE: 12 November 2023
We had nowhere to put our anger and horror and sadness, except into a song. We know it doesn’t mean anything. And we know that even if miracles do exist, they feel very distant amidst the carnage. It’s the best we could come up with. All there is at the moment is trauma and dead ends, and catastrophic multipolar failures of leadership.
Thank you so much to everyone who helped us to think about our words - for which we take sole responsibility. It meant a huge deal to share exchanges about tone, language, and pronunciation with strangers who helped us to understand fragments of Hebrew and Arabic, and offered their time and patience and imagination - often in circumstances of enormous personal sorrow. We have pasted below our best efforts at a consensus translation of the chorus, and we tried our best (forgive mispronunciations!) to sing of miracles in different voices near the end.
We need an end to war. To occupation. To fear. To the mutilation of children, and the stealing of voices that will never sing, but become forever lost or forever angry. Step back. Stand for peace and light. Find another path, those who can. They are out there, just beyond the horizon of history, blame, and righteousness.

    LYRICS:
    Under bloodshot skies
    Where the smoke plumes rise
    We make monsters
    We make tears
    Crimes no parent could forgive
Lives no child should ever live
    Broken families
    Wasted years
But if that day comes round
    When the fence comes down
Then some moment full of grief could be a start
    I would pray so hard
    To whatever god
Cos a miracle is brightest in the dark
Yes a miracle is brightest in the dark
    No one comes of age
    Trapped in history’s rage
    Taken hostage
    Raised on fears
    Every synagogue and mosque
    Every witness shares the cost
Every church where prayers seem lost
But if that day comes round
    When the fence comes down
Then some moment full of grief could be a start
    I would pray so hard
    To whatever god
Cos a miracle is brightest in the dark
We’ve seen the hate swell up with every act of war
We’ve seen the faith bleed out with every child that falls
It seems we fell so hard
    We broke a Holy Land
    Just into shards
So since the guns don’t heal
    Since the numbed can’t feel
Since two peoples full of pain are losing heart
    Stand for peace and light
    Hold your loved ones tight
Cos a miracle is brightest in the dark
    المعجزات
    ניסים
Yes a miracle is brightest in the dark

Oh my goodness what a special and thoughtful song. Especially moving on this Remembrance Sunday where we remember the fallen in all wars including WW1, the war to end all wars.... Bless you Marsh family this is beautiful and speaks for all our impotence as we see the news every day. 💜🖤💜

The hope for a miracle to end wars, to let people live their short life on Earth in peace (Shalom, Salaam, Mir...) without fences or even borders is a beautiful wish. I hope one day people will see the light not to hate each other. Thank you for this beautiful and sensitive song.

What a beautiful song. Here in the USA we celebrate Veterans day yesterday, November 11th and England does their Remembrance Services today. God bless everyone❤

We in the UK commemorate both days. We have a two minute silence on the 11th November and lay wreathes at various war memorials around the country then on the nearest Sunday we have Rememberance Sunday with Marches past the cenotaph in London and other gatherings around the country. We also celebrate VE (victory in Europe) day and VJ (Victory in Japan) day.
There is also holocaust memorial day where we are encouraged to remember the innocent victims of war mostly of course the Jews and others that were murdered by the Nazis during the second world war but it has opened up in more recent years to be a day we remember all the innocent victims caught up in all conflicts.
We do a fair amount of Rememberance and commemoration I just wish our leaders would also do some learning from it and implement policies etc to stop it from happening again. Unfortunately they just seem more intent lately of fanning the flames of anger and division and/or sitting back and generally being useless to stop it.

As a Jew who is living in Israel for most of my life; I immigrated to live here when I was 16, alone, in 1979.
I am not one w political interests but what happened on that Black Saturday on 7th of October, was so beyond anyone's thoughts or images of any reality since the years of the Holocaust.
You, the Marsh Family have written lyrics together, and sung them into an emotional picture of what has in reality happened.
There are no absolute words to describe the atrocities of what was.
It happened because people are Jews; but Hamas and again now it is also Hizballa, the country, the land, the people of Israel, are Jews - but also Druze and Bedouin, and Muslims and Christians that most are trying to live successfully in ways of communication along w caring and understanding of one another to live in peace and togetherness.
Thank u for enlightening the world during these troubling times that I only noticed you during 'corona', and since.
Blessings, love and prayers for all, from Israel 🇮🇱.
Peace for all on this Earth and in this World.

Bless you. I know there are lots of Israelis like you who want peace for all. I can understand the mindset of those who seem to want this war like Mr Netanyahu, the Jews need and deserve a homeland of their own after what happened in Germany and also in England I’m ashamed to say, the pogroms In medieval times. As a Brit, I hesitate to say you should not take over other peoples’ countries but Isreal is in a more vulnerable position than us. They are surrounded by the people they invaded. Britain got away with it, we shouldn’t have but we have. For Israel’s sake they need to come to a compromise for their own safety. As a Christian, I tend to identify with Jews more, perhaps because of Jesus, but I still care about the Palestinians as well. Sorry to go on, I worry about the situation so much. ❤

I was a bit nervous of a song coming out on this subject. But I should have known. You just get it right every single time. How could anyone sing something hopeful about all this? But yet again the Marshes show us the way. This is so much more than a song: it’s a kind of spiritual leadership. Thankyou all so much.

I really hope this along with your Till I see your face again (not sure if that’s the title but it’s the line that plays over and over in my mind) goes viral and hopefully reaches the ears of someone who has the ability to do something positive for the future of these dear people who are affected by these horrific events. A family which makes music together, stays together and makes miracles together. This is what two of my grandsons' music teacher told Alex and Adam when they were joined by their mom (my daughter), dad, and four brothers to play/sing The Logical Song at a recent village concert in Queenland. For over two years, you the Marshes have been their unknowing mentors. Thanks. Btw, two of my sons and three of my grandsons followed in my footsteps as cathedral choristers (Westminster Abbey, Winchester, Vancouver (2), and Brisbane). Of my six children, and 16 grandsons, only one doesn't play at least one instrument, but none have followed my French horn example. 🙄

A bit sad this one, well played and sung. It is a pity that so much strife is caused by religious factions. No religion is worth the loss of life over the centuries. I was christened C of E, attended a Baptist Church til late teens. Converted to R C before I married my wife. Brought up our children attending catholic churches. However none of us now attends church. I gave up on organised religion after learning about the sexual abuse of children, which has occured in many religious organisations, and seeing so many conflicts.

@bobwalker7531 I agree. Too many wars, mass shottings, and torture in this world throughout history have happened because of differences in religion. Everyone should be able to worship or not worship whomever or whatever they want to, without fear of violence. This song is a beautiful reminder of all that is lost because of war - no matter ever the cause of that war others think caused it. From USA - day after Veterans Day.

Thank You So Much. My own response was silent but sharing the same message. I marched on Saturday with a poster. It has the Ukrainian flag colours top and bottom. Israeli and Palestinian flags between. In the centre, weaving in and out of the colours of the flags, is an outline of a heart and in the centre is a heart-shaped face - with big eyes and falling tears.
I had no words, just overwhelming horror and grief.
It was important for me to march on Saturday. A very moving occasion calling for a ceasefire. An atmosphere of love and oneness with a very serious message. It was the complete opposite of the ‘hate march’ some predicted. People of all ages, religions (notably Jewish, Muslim and Christian but others as well.) All communities and backgrounds joining together - just to call for sanity. Stop the slaughter. Stop the madness.
You have captured the emotion and the message so well.
Thank-you for all your songs, but especially this one.

Stunning Song! Great voices, the young son and father sound so alike with their singing voice! Incredible, seems to have affected my allergies though as made my nose run and eyes stream full of tears. :')

Good timing with Hanukkah starting next week. It celebrates a miracle, and we celebrate it by putting a lighted hanukkia (menorah) in a window (adding one candle per day) each of the eight nights.

I can only imagine that those families and children suffering continued bombardment in Gaza will grow in hate wanting retaliation and retribution on Israel, so where does this war on civilians and terrorists end.? War is never the answer for peace!
Thank you Marsh family for doing your bit here.
