  • Hi everyone, this is a Needlepoint Ornament Finishing demo, just a quick tutorial in 2 videos. My video on how to make the twisted cord that I'm using is here: • How to make Twisted Co...
    I'm using the Chandler mini high heat glue gun. On Amazon for about $13. I love it. The high heat works best (better than the low heat guns).
    The Matboard that is best is the Canson Mi Tientes in #120 pearl gray (basically white), 16 x 20 in. It costs $5.29 at Hobby Lobby. Here is the link: www.hobbylobby.com/Art-Suppli...
    Here is a tiny URL if that doesn't work: tinyurl.com/upyz5963
    If you search the barcode # which is 3148955703168 Google brings up a site where you can buy it online for like $3.19. I haven't purchased it from there.
    The first half of this method is based on The Needlepoint Ornament Finishing Book by Eleanor Macnish available here: www.twistedstitchesnp.com/nee...

    Your tutorial was so helpful. Do you think that the hot glue will “fail” in a few years and the ornament can fall apart. Just worried. Thank you

      Interesting. I've bought dollhouse items that were hot glued in the 90s and are still held together, but I have heard that if the hot glue gets really hot again it could turn from a solid to a liquid, so I would just make sure that the ornament doesn't sit in a hot car in summer or a window where the sun is really coming in and heating it up. I think they'll be just fine for the long haul. :)

    How did you cut the Canson board to get such perfect circles? I used scissors, and they are very round. Any suggestions?

      Hi Mary - I used kitchen scissors for these - they're Cutco and can cut almost anything. However, after I filmed this I ended up ordering a circle cutting tool on Amazon that has been a dream. The name of it is: NT Cutter Aluminum Die-Cast Body Heavy-Duty Circle Cutter, 1-3/16 Inches 10-1/4 Inches Diameter, 1 Cutter (C-3000GP)

      It shouldn't be too hard. The glue and proper matboard (link in description) makes everything pretty easy.

      @@jenyarose4411 Thank you! Just about to complete a 4" ornament for which I drew a simple design and did simple stitch. Will work with this one to do a finish on it as practice. Your videos are very helpful! Thanks for taking the time!

    Great explanation- thank you. How about standup figures in needlepoint?

      I did a stand up needlepoint figure and the most helpful thing was searching in CZcams for Stand Up Cross Stitch finishing. The matboard on the bottom is really important and the video I watched really broke it down so mine came out great. It was a few years ago so I don't remember the exact one I watched. It was a lady and it was something like 50 minutes long.

    Do you have a video on finishing a square sign?

    • @jenyarose4411
      @jenyarose4411  Před 3 lety +1

      Oh, I don't but it's really easy. You just nip the corners and fold. Maybe I'll make a video on the next square one that I do. :)
