Safes should be made to hold up to at least 100' / 35.57m deep, and should be able to withstand a hour-long house fire (cannot always expect the fire dept. to show up). If you live in a forested area, a 30-hour+ burn is likely. You cannot expect to remember to take it with you when you evacuate. Until such a thing becomes a thing, if you live in an at-risk-of-floods area, put it in a waterproof container. Wildfires? A small underground bunker will do. Risk of both? A small waterproof underground bunker with battery-powered sump pump. Location? Under your floor, with a trapdoor, regardless if your floor has a crawlspace below, or if it is a slab-on-grade. Do not forget the float charger to maintain the pump battery.

Because the door was water tight! You could tell by how all the water flooded out!
A lot of safe manufacturers use the word waterproof and normaly don't explain more. Its very rare to see a product with a real waterpoof protection agains inundations.
When the temperature rises, the intumescent strips between the door and the frame expands, causing a "hermetic" closure. The gasket does not allow water to enter so that the firefighters do not damage the objects inside with the water.
This strips are used a lot in fire protection containers like this.
In spain normaly we say (literaly traduction) "fire protection container" or "fire box". I don't like to use the word safe because normaly they are very bad agains fisical attacks and agains power tools so "it is not a safe"

If there are holes at the bottom when they lift it up you would have seen the water leaking out from those holes.

Fun fact about most fireproof safes: there is seal and thats gonna melt in fire creating fireproof seal, if temperature goes high up again... well the seals not gonna protect it second time.

Yes. Sure, you can speed up the healing by telling yourself to heal, but it is better to avoid the accident in the first place. An ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure.

This fire test was nothing like the temperature's you'd get in a real house fire and for a much shorter time. Not very definitive at all.

The only safes I trust are Liberty Gun Safes.
They are damn near impossible to move, fire resistant up to 3 hours & hard to open.
Id question if waterproof claim is meant to include pool water which is either has salt or chlorine. It shouldve been done with city water.

Depends on what you put in it.
Anything you put in the safe you put in a Ziploc bag. They sell 1-gallon, 2-gallon, and quart bags. Maybe wrap in foil too

The dry wall material in the safe is probably k-wool it is a heat resistant cloth
Just to note fireproof safes should have a rating to what tempatures they can handle.
PSA Card cases aren’t waterproof but they are resistant. Just happened to be really good at keeping it out on this particular slab?
