- In 5 minutes we tell you the incredible story of the foundation of Quito, this time we have collaborated with the incredible channel "La Chulla Historia" dedicated to rescue the Ecuadorian identity and especially the identity of Quito (link at the end of the description).
Going back to 1417 when the first inhabitants Quitu Cara populated the eastern region (in the foothills of Pichincha), of what we know today as the Metropolitan District of Quito. Later in the year 1463 the Incas arrived through campaigns of conquest led by Pachacutec and his son Tupac Yupanqui, after a great resistance opposed by the various tribes that inhabited the territory, the conquest was completed by Huayna Capac, the son of Tupac Yupanqui at the end of the fifteenth century. When the Spaniards arrived in Tahuantinsuyo in 1532, the Inca empire was submerged in a civil war provoked by the power struggle between Atahualpa and his brother Huáscar. But in 1533, after pacifying the empire, Atahualpa accepted a meeting with Francisco Pizarro, in which he was captured and days later assassinated by order of the Spaniard. The conquest of the northern Andes was motivated mainly by the rumor that Atahualpa's treasure was in Quito. Two expeditions were formed, the one led by Pedro de Alvarado. Thus, on December 6, 1534, the city of San Francisco de Quito was founded on the eastern slopes of the Pichincha volcano.

¿Reino de Quito? Sus gobiernos, en su intento de forjar la historia de un país de la nada estimulan la divulgación de estas leyendas, que no son más que eso.
Todo parece apuntar a que Atahualpa era en verdad cusqueño, pero a ustedes los ecuatorianos, desde su más tierna infancia les han enseñado que era quiteño una y otra y otra vez (Cuando en esas épocas ni siquiera existía Quito), y esto no termina ahí, sus honrados maestros abundaban en detalles por demás “Exóticos”, por ejemplo, afirmaban que Atahualpa (el quiteño) era alto, guapo, inteligente, fuerte, sagaz, leal, impetuoso, mientras que Huáscar (el peruano) era bajito, débil, enfermizo, traicionero, e incluso afeminado!!.
Cualquiera con un mínimo de criterio se da cuenta de que eso no es más que una torpe mentira, creada, eso sí, para alimentar un patriotismo que dista mucho de ser sano y conveniente. Es verdad, del supuesto reino de Quito no queda ni un palo enterrado en el piso, pero en fin, en base a esta mentira se han levantado monumentos, canciones, más leyendas y todo un inicuo sistema que tiene como único fin mantener la ilusión de que el Ecuador existía desde épocas remotas (el cámbrico, el carbonífero), cuando en realidad ustedes no eran más que una provincia que rendía tributo al gran imperio Inca. Y la mentira no queda ahí, precisamente en agosto celebran “El primer grito de independencia americana” (!) ya que según sus historiadores, un grupo de criollos quiteños (¡otra vez ellos!) Allá por el 1809 decidieron rebelarse contra el dominio español, ¿Cómo? ¡Pues afirmando su lealtad a la corona española! (no, no es broma, así está escrito en la historia), ya habrá tiempo de escribir sobre estas contradicciones.
