By using fant mod it is 100% possible to build an auto tree chopper and refine drone. But by using the same drone but for stone it will prob get your frames down by 95% :0
I mark a forest then make a sawmill like a piston going into a saw with collector and refinery and then cut down tree and weld them to the piston then use that only need 1 sawblade
I am surprised when I see people use engines to spin their saw blades, I just use two stacked bearings and a controller at Max speed 360 degrees and it can still cut down trees. Using controllers uses zero fuel
Which is a fair argument, if fuel was hard to get, but as there are literally ponds everywhere, its not a rare resource, so you don't really need to save it as its plentiful

In survival, I only chop trees to clear a path. I get all my scrap wood from farmer shacks.
How do you have enough wood for everything?

as someone with a tree cutter with 4 saw blades, 2 collectors, 2 refinebots all on a double wishbone car, i would say its quite fast to cut trees
I just build a massive truck, cut down the big trees, and bring like 5 entire uncut trees back to my base and put them in a tree blender.
I have a mod to get more from refining resources and this is so true for me
